彼拉多再次出到外面，對猶太人說：“看！我把他帶出來給你們，讓你們知道我查不出他有甚麼罪。”

祭司長和差役看見耶穌，就喊叫說：“把他釘十字架！把他釘十字架！”彼拉多對他們說：“你們自己把他帶去釘十字架吧！我查不出他有甚麼罪。”

彼拉多對祭司長和眾人說：“我在這人身上，查不出有甚麼罪。”

“他從來沒有犯過罪，口裡也找不到詭詐。”他被罵的時候不還嘴，受苦的時候也不說恐嚇的話；只把自己交託給那公義的審判者。

彼拉多見無濟於事，反會引起騷動，就拿水在群眾面前洗手，說：“流這人的血，與我無關，你們自己負責吧。”

而是憑著基督的寶血，就像無瑕疵無玷污的羊羔的血。

他知道他們是因為嫉妒才把耶穌交了來。彼拉多坐在審判臺上的時候，他的夫人派人來說：“你不要干涉這個義人的事，因為昨夜我在夢中因他受了很多的苦。”

保羅講到公義、自制和將來的審判的時候，腓力斯就害怕起來，說：“你先走吧，等我有空的時候再叫你來。”同時他也希望保羅送錢給他，所以又多次傳見他，和他談話。

眾人一聽到死人復活的事，就譏笑他，但有的說：“我們要再聽聽你講這件事！”

彼拉多說：“他作了甚麼惡事呢？”眾人卻更加大聲喊叫：“把他釘十字架！”

他們拉著保羅，把他帶到亞略．巴古那裡，說：“你所講的這個新道理，我們可以知道嗎？因為你把一切新奇的事，傳到我們耳中，我們願意知道這些事是甚麼意思。”

猶太人的祭司長對彼拉多說：“不要寫‘猶太人的王’，要寫‘這個人自稱：我是猶太人的王’。”彼拉多說：“我所寫的，我已經寫了！”

對他們說：“你們把這人押到我這裡來，說他煽惑群眾，我已經在你們面前審訊過，在他身上一點也找不到你們控告他的罪狀，連希律也找不到，又把他送回我這裡，可見他沒有作過該死的事。我要責打他，然後把他釋放。”（有些抄本有第17節：“每逢節期，他必須照例給他們釋放一個囚犯。”也有些抄本把這句放在第19節後）
