彼拉多又走到外面對眾人說：「我把祂帶到你們面前，好讓你們知道我查不出祂有什麼罪。」

祭司長和差役一見耶穌，就喊道：「把祂釘在十字架上！把祂釘在十字架上！」彼拉多說：「你們自己把祂帶去釘十字架吧！因為我查不出祂有什麼罪。」

彼拉多轉過身來，對祭司長和百姓宣佈：「我查不出這人有什麼罪。」

祂沒有犯罪，口中也沒有詭詐。祂被辱駡也不還口，被迫害也不揚言報復，只把自己交託給按公義施行審判的上帝。

彼拉多見再說也無濟於事，反而會引起騷亂，於是拿了一盆水來，在眾人面前洗手，說：「流這義人的血，罪不在我，你們自己負責。」

而是靠無瑕無疵的代罪羔羊——基督的寶血。

因為彼拉多知道他們把耶穌抓來是因為嫉妒。彼拉多正坐堂斷案時，他夫人派人來對他說：「你不要插手這個義人的事！我今天在夢中因為這個人受了許多苦。」

當保羅講到公義、節制和將來的審判時，腓利斯十分恐懼，說：「你先下去吧，改天有機會，我再叫你來。」腓利斯希望保羅賄賂他，所以經常召他來談話。

聽見保羅提到死人復活的事，有些人就嘲笑他，還有些人說：「我們改天再聽你講這個。」

彼拉多問：「為什麼？祂犯了什麼罪？」他們卻更大聲地喊：「把祂釘在十字架上！」

他們帶保羅到一個稱為亞略·巴古的論壇，問他：「我們可以知道你所教導的這個新道理嗎？你的言論確實稀奇，我們很想知道個究竟。」

猶太人的祭司長對彼拉多說：「不要寫『猶太人的王』，應該寫『這人自稱是猶太人的王』。」彼拉多說：「我寫了就寫了。」

對他們說：「你們帶這個人來，指控祂煽動百姓造反，我當著你們的面審問了祂，卻查不出祂有任何你們指控祂的罪。希律也查不出祂有什麼罪，所以把祂送回來了。可見，這人並沒有犯什麼該死的罪。因此，我要懲戒祂，然後釋放祂。」
