“ Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied.“ Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What have you done?”

Pilate answered,“ Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered you over to me. What have you done?”

“ Am I a Jew?” Pilate retorted.“ Your own people and their leading priests brought you to me for trial. Why? What have you done?”

“ I’m not a Jew, am I?” Pilate replied.“ Your own nation and the chief priests handed you over to me. What have you done?”

Pilate answered,“ I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests handed You over to me; what have You done?”

Pilate answered,“ Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?”

Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?

“ I’m not a Jew, am I?” Pilate replied.“ Your own nation and the chief priests handed You over to me. What have You done?”

Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?

Pilate answered,“ I am not a Jew, am I? Your own people and your chief priests handed you over to me. What have you done?”

Pilate answered,“ I’m not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered you to me. What have you done?”

The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go.

Then the Jewish leaders took Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor. By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness they did not enter the palace, because they wanted to be able to eat the Passover.

“ Aren’t you the Egyptian who started a revolt and led four thousand terrorists out into the wilderness some time ago?”

and in the presence of his associates and the army of Samaria, he said,“ What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble— burned as they are?”

Instead, they had some points of dispute with him about their own religion and about a dead man named Jesus who Paul claimed was alive.I was at a loss how to investigate such matters; so I asked if he would be willing to go to Jerusalem and stand trial there on these charges.

Jesus answered,“ You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.”

Just as Paul was about to speak, Gallio said to them,“ If you Jews were making a complaint about some misdemeanor or serious crime, it would be reasonable for me to listen to you.But since it involves questions about words and names and your own law— settle the matter yourselves. I will not be a judge of such things.”So he drove them off.

What advantage, then, is there in being a Jew, or what value is there in circumcision?Much in every way! First of all, the Jews have been entrusted with the very words of God.

The crowd listened to Paul until he said this. Then they raised their voices and shouted,“ Rid the earth of him! He’s not fit to live!”As they were shouting and throwing off their cloaks and flinging dust into the air,the commander ordered that Paul be taken into the barracks. He directed that he be flogged and interrogated in order to find out why the people were shouting at him like this.

I found that the accusation had to do with questions about their law, but there was no charge against him that deserved death or imprisonment.

The king should know that the people who came up to us from you have gone to Jerusalem and are rebuilding that rebellious and wicked city. They are restoring the walls and repairing the foundations.

As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted,“ Crucify! Crucify!” But Pilate answered,“ You take him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.”
