They answered him,“ If this man were not doing evil, we would not have delivered him over to you.”

對曰、彼若非行惡者、我儕則不付於爾矣、

眾應曰：『苟非惡類、必不解之爾前。』

“ If he were not a criminal,” they replied,“ we would not have handed him over to you.”

“ He has committed crimes,” they replied.“ If he hadn’t, we would not have handed him over to you.”

“ We wouldn’t have handed him over to you if he weren’t a criminal!” they retorted.

They answered him,“ If this man weren’t a criminal, we wouldn’t have handed him over to you.”

They answered and said to him,“ If this Man were not a criminal, we would not have handed Him over to you.”

They answered and said to him,“ If He were not an evildoer, we would not have delivered Him up to you.”

They answered and said unto him, If this man were not an evil- doer, we should not have delivered him up unto thee.

They answered him,“ If this man weren’t a criminal, we wouldn’t have handed Him over to you.”

They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee.

They replied,“ If this man were not a criminal, we would not have handed him over to you.”

They answered him,“ If this man weren’t an evildoer, we wouldn’t have delivered him up to you.”

saying,“ See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death and deliver him over to the Gentiles.

that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”

From then on Pilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out,“ If you release this man, you are not Caesar’s friend. Everyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar.”

The scribes and the chief priests sought to lay hands on him at that very hour, for they perceived that he had told this parable against them, but they feared the people.So they watched him and sent spies, who pretended to be sincere, that they might catch him in something he said, so as to deliver him up to the authority and jurisdiction of the governor.So they asked him,“ Teacher, we know that you speak and teach rightly, and show no partiality, but truly teach the way of God.Is it lawful for us to give tribute to Caesar, or not?”But he perceived their craftiness, and said to them,“ Show me a denarius. Whose likeness and inscription does it have?” They said,“ Caesar’s.”He said to them,“ Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”And they were not able in the presence of the people to catch him in what he said, but marveling at his answer they became silent.

And the chief priests accused him of many things.

The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him.

And they began to accuse him, saying,“ We found this man misleading our nation and forbidding us to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, a king.”And Pilate asked him,“ Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him,“ You have said so.”Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds,“ I find no guilt in this man.”But they were urgent, saying,“ He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, from Galilee even to this place.”
