So Pilate came out to them and asked,“ What charges are you bringing against this man?”

Pilate came out to them. He asked,“ What charges are you bringing against this man?”

So Pilate went outside to them and said,“ What accusation do you bring against this man?”

So Pilate, the governor, went out to them and asked,“ What is your charge against this man?”

So Pilate came out to them and said,“ What charge do you bring against this man?”

Therefore Pilate came out to them and* said,“ What accusation are you bringing against this Man?”

Pilate then went out to them and said,“ What accusation do you bring against this Man?”

Pilate therefore went out unto them, and saith, What accusation bring ye against this man?

Then Pilate came out to them and said,“ What charge do you bring against this man?”

“ Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder,“ Crucify him!”

“ Are you the king of the Jews?” asked Pilate.“ You have said so,” Jesus replied.The chief priests accused him of many things.So again Pilate asked him,“ Aren’t you going to answer? See how many things they are accusing you of.”But Jesus still made no reply, and Pilate was amazed.

And they began to accuse him, saying,“ We have found this man subverting our nation. He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar and claims to be Messiah, a king.”So Pilate asked Jesus,“ Are you the king of the Jews?”“ You have said so,” Jesus replied.

I wanted to know why they were accusing him, so I brought him to their Sanhedrin.I found that the accusation had to do with questions about their law, but there was no charge against him that deserved death or imprisonment.When I was informed of a plot to be carried out against the man, I sent him to you at once. I also ordered his accusers to present to you their case against him.

Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him,“ Are you the king of the Jews?”“ You have said so,” Jesus replied.When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer.Then Pilate asked him,“ Don’t you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?”But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge— to the great amazement of the governor.

“ I told them that it is not the Roman custom to hand over anyone before they have faced their accusers and have had an opportunity to defend themselves against the charges.
