Then the Jewish leaders took Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor. By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness they did not enter the palace, because they wanted to be able to eat the Passover.

Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.

Then they brought Jesus from Caiaphas to the Roman governor’s residence.( Now it was very early morning.) They did not go into the governor’s residence so they would not be ceremonially defiled, but could eat the Passover meal.

They led Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the Praetorium. It was early, and they themselves didn’t enter into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the Passover.

比辣多復入督轅、傳耶穌而問曰：『汝果為猶太人之王乎？』

復入督轅問耶穌曰：『汝果奚自？』耶穌不答。

方伯之衛卒、引耶穌入公廨、集全營兵士於其前、

『汝竟入未受割禮之家、且與之同食！』

乃語曰：『汝等固知猶太人素與他國人不相往來、惟天主已示予勿視人為塵俗不潔；

及曙、大司祭與諸長老經生及公會中人會議既畢、乃縛耶穌、押送比辣多、比辣多問之曰：『爾果為猶太人之王乎？』耶穌答曰：『爾言之矣！』大司祭呈控多端、比辣多復問之曰：『爾尚不作答辯乎？不聞人之縷縷控若耶？』而耶穌仍不答。比辣多不勝詫異。

是日適值免難節預備日、時在正午。比辣多謂猶大人曰：『睹爾王！』

會猶太人之免難節將屆、節前多有自鄉間上耶路撒冷者、先行取潔、

黎明、司祭諸長及民間耆老、群議處耶穌以死。乃縛送於方伯比辣多。斯時、鬻主之茹答斯、見耶穌死案既決、悔之；乃以銀三十兩、返之司祭長及耆老曰：『予賣無辜之血、獲罪實深。』若輩對曰：『此爾之事、與我何涉？』茹答斯乃投銀殿中而退、出而自縊死。司祭長拾銀曰：『此乃血值、不合納庫。』眾議以購陶人田、用瘞羈旅之客。斯田至今猶稱亞瑟大瑪、譯言「血田」也。先知日勒米亞之言、於是乎應；其言曰：『渠為義塞子孫所鬻、沽得銀錢三十、用購陶人之田、此乃上主諭我所言。』

既曙、長老司祭長經生咸集、引耶穌至公會、曰：

哀哉爾經生與法利塞人、虛偽之徒也！蓋爾斤斤於薄荷、蘹香、蒔蘿、什一之輸、而於律中綱要、如正義、仁慈、信德、則漠然置之。彼固當行、此亦焉可廢哉？爾瞽而作導者！蚋則濾之、駝則吞焉。哀哉爾經生與法利塞人、虛偽之徒也！蓋爾第潔杯盤之表、而內充貪污邪欲。矇哉法利塞人！爾其先潔杯盤之內、則其外自潔矣。哀哉爾經生與法利塞人、虛偽之徒也！蓋爾猶粉堊之塋、外形雖美、內充屍骸諸穢。爾曹飾義以欺人、而內則虛偽邪惡、無所不有也。

爾曹慣例、每屆免難節、欲吾為釋一囚、今欲吾開釋「猶太人之王」乎？』

兵士遂曳耶穌至公廨、喚集全隊、

相逼日以甚。欲將我撕裂。切齒為何因。醉酒且飽德。

亞伯漢意灑格雅各伯之天主、吾列祖之天主、厥子耶穌、已蒙榮寵。此即爾曹曩日執交比辣多、比辣多意欲釋之、

會眾遂起、解耶穌於比辣多而控之曰：『查得此人、煽惑我民、禁人納稅於凱撒、自稱受命之王。』比辣多乃問耶穌曰：『爾為猶太人之王乎？』耶穌對曰：『爾言之矣。』比辣多謂司祭諸長及群眾曰：『吾未見其罪也。』眾力言曰：『煽動民眾、傳教猶太全境、發自加利利、周遊至此。』
