耶穌說完了這些話，就和門徒出去，過了汲淪溪。在那裡有一個園子，耶穌和門徒進去了。

西門．彼得帶著一把刀，就拔出來，向大祭司的僕人馬勒古砍去，削掉他的右耳。

大約過了一小時，又有一個人肯定地說：“這人真是和他一夥的，因為他也是加利利人。”彼得說：“你這個人，我不知道你說的是甚麼！”他還在說話的時候，雞就叫了。

彼得還是不承認。過了一會，站在旁邊的人也對彼得說：“你真是他們一夥的，因為你也是加利利人。”彼得就發咒起誓說：“我不認得你們說的這個人！”

說實話的嘴唇，永遠堅立；撒謊的舌頭，眨眼間消失。

過了一會，站在那裡的人前來對他說：“你的確是他們中間的一個，因為一聽你的口音就認出來了。”
