Meanwhile, Simon Peter was still standing there warming himself. So they asked him,“ You aren’t one of his disciples too, are you?” He denied it, saying,“ I am not.”

Meanwhile, as Simon Peter was standing by the fire warming himself, they asked him again,“ You’re not one of his disciples, are you?” He denied it, saying,“ No, I am not.”

Now Simon Peter was still standing and warming himself. So they said to him,“ You are not one of His disciples as well, are you?” He denied it, and said,“ I am not.”

And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how that he said unto him, Before the cock crow this day thou shalt deny me thrice.And he went out, and wept bitterly.

The fear of man bringeth a snare; But whoso putteth his trust in Jehovah shall be safe.

And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and saith unto them that were there, This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth.And again he denied with an oath, I know not the man.And after a little while they that stood by came and said to Peter, Of a truth thou also art one of them; for thy speech maketh thee known.Then began he to curse and to swear, I know not the man. And straightway the cock crew.And Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

The maid therefore that kept the door saith unto Peter, Art thou also one of this man’s disciples? He saith, I am not.Now the servants and the officers were standing there, having made a fire of coals; for it was cold; and they were warming themselves: and Peter also was with them, standing and warming himself.

But when Cephas came to Antioch, I resisted him to the face, because he stood condemned.For before that certain came from James, he ate with the Gentiles; but when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing them that were of the circumcision.And the rest of the Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that even Barnabas was carried away with their dissimulation.

And a certain maid seeing him as he sat in the light of the fire, and looking stedfastly upon him, said, This man also was with him.

Now Peter was sitting without in the court: and a maid came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus the Galilæan.

And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest thou not watch one hour?Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh.

and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and saith, Thou also wast with the Nazarene, even Jesus.But he denied, saying, I neither know, nor understand what thou sayest: and he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.And the maid saw him, and began again to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.But he again denied it. And after a little while again they that stood by said to Peter, Of a truth thou art one of them; for thou art a Galilæan.But he began to curse, and to swear, I know not this man of whom ye speak.And straightway the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word, how that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.
