耶穌應曰：『吾言非耶？儘可指證其非。吾言是耶？何擊予為。』

耶稣说：“我若说的不是，你可以指证那不是；我若说的是，你为什么打我呢？”

耶稣回答他：“假如我说的不对，你指证不对的地方；假如我说的对，你为什么打我呢？”

耶稣回答他：“假如我说的不对，你指证不对的地方；假如我说的对，你为什么打我呢？”

耶稣说：“如果我说错了，你可以指出我错在哪里。如果我说的对，你为什么打我呢？”

耶稣对他说：“如果我讲错了，你可以指证错在哪里；如果我讲对了，你为什么打我呢？”

耶稣回答他：“如果我说得不对，你可以见证哪里不对；如果说得对，你为什么打我呢？”

耶穌說：「我若說的不是，你可以指證那不是；我若說的是，你為甚麼打我呢？」

耶穌回答他：「假如我說的不對，你指證不對的地方；假如我說的對，你為甚麼打我呢？」

耶穌說：「如果我說錯了，你可以指出我錯在哪裡。如果我說的對，你為什麼打我呢？」

耶穌對他說：“如果我講錯了，你可以指證錯在哪裡；如果我講對了，你為甚麼打我呢？”

耶穌回答他說：『我若講得不對，你可以指證那不對之處；若是對呢、你為甚麼打我？』

耶穌回答他：「如果我說得不對，你可以見證哪裡不對；如果說得對，你為什麼打我呢？」

耶穌曰、我言若非、可證其非、若是、何批我耶、

耶穌曰、若我言非、則斥其非、若言是、何扑我乎、

耶穌曰、我言若非、則指證其非、若是、何批我乎、

“ If I said something wrong,” Jesus replied,“ testify as to what is wrong. But if I spoke the truth, why did you strike me?”

“ Have I said something wrong?” Jesus replied.“ If I have, then tell everyone what it was. But if I spoke the truth, why did you hit me?”

Jesus answered him,“ If what I said is wrong, bear witness about the wrong; but if what I said is right, why do you strike me?”

Jesus replied,“ If I said anything wrong, you must prove it. But if I’m speaking the truth, why are you beating me?”

“ If I have spoken wrongly,” Jesus answered him,“ give evidence about the wrong; but if rightly, why do you hit me?”

Jesus answered him,“ If I have spoken wrongly, testify of the wrong; but if rightly, why do you strike Me?”

Jesus answered him,“ If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why do you strike Me?”

Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?

“ If I have spoken wrongly,” Jesus answered him,“ give evidence about the wrong; but if rightly, why do you hit Me?”

Jesus replied,“ If I have said something wrong, confirm what is wrong. But if I spoke correctly, why strike me?”

Jesus answered him,“ If I have spoken evil, testify of the evil; but if well, why do you beat me?”

爾若為惡而見責、即能忍受、亦有何功？正惟為善而遘辱、逆來而順受、乃能取悅於天主耳。且爾之使命正在此中。蓋基督亦曾為爾茹苦、垂爾楷式、俾爾踵效。基督平生未犯一罪、口無欺人之言、見詬不反、見辱不校、將一切付諸公平主宰之手、

然吾語爾、毋抗惡人；或批爾右頰、向以左頰；

茲者我葆樂本人、欲憑基督之溫柔謙恭、有所求於爾焉。頗聞人言、予與爾相處、晤時則恭、暌時則踞。

大司祭亞拿尼亞乃命左右掌其頰。葆樂語之曰：『願天主毀爾粉堊之墻。汝升座聽訟、應依法審判。今乃違法而令人擊予耶。』左右曰：『汝詬詈天主之大司祭耶？』葆樂曰：『兄弟、予實不知彼乃大司祭也。經云：「民之有司、不可謗也。」』
