And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.

But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.

Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.

We know that God’s children do not make a practice of sinning, for God’s Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot touch them.

For I fully expect and hope that I will never be ashamed, but that I will continue to be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past. And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die.For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better.But if I live, I can do more fruitful work for Christ. So I really don’t know which is better.I’m torn between two desires: I long to go and be with Christ, which would be far better for me.But for your sakes, it is better that I continue to live.Knowing this, I am convinced that I will remain alive so I can continue to help all of you grow and experience the joy of your faith.And when I come to you again, you will have even more reason to take pride in Christ Jesus because of what he is doing through me.

For the dead cannot praise you; they cannot raise their voices in praise. Those who go down to the grave can no longer hope in your faithfulness.Only the living can praise you as I do today. Each generation tells of your faithfulness to the next.

“ What will you gain if I die, if I sink into the grave? Can my dust praise you? Can it tell of your faithfulness?

And now the prize awaits me— the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.

Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come.

Just say a simple,‘ Yes, I will,’ or‘ No, I won’t.’ Anything beyond this is from the evil one.

Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom.
