Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; (niv)

It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. (niv)

While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. (niv)

After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them.“ Men of Galilee,” they said,“ why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” (niv)

Jesus went on to say,“ In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.” (niv)

As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. (niv)

I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. (niv)

“ You heard me say,‘ I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. (niv)

“ I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. (niv)
