“ I have told you these things in obscure figures of speech; a time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in obscure figures, but will tell you plainly about the Father.

“ Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father.

“ I have not been speaking to you plainly. But a time is coming when I will speak clearly. Then I will tell you plainly about my Father.

“ I have said these things to you in figures of speech. The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech but will tell you plainly about the Father.

“ I have spoken of these matters in figures of speech, but soon I will stop speaking figuratively and will tell you plainly all about the Father.

“ I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.

Then the disciples came to him and said,“ Why do you speak to them in parables?”He replied,“ You have been given the opportunity to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but they have not.

I came from the Father and entered into the world, but in turn, I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”His disciples said,“ Look, now you are speaking plainly and not in obscure figures of speech!

Jesus spoke all these things in parables to the crowds; he did not speak to them without a parable.This fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet:“ I will open my mouth in parables, I will announce what has been hidden from the foundation of the world.”

Jesus told them this parable, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.

He said to them,“ Don’t you understand this parable? Then how will you understand any parable?

I will learn a song that imparts wisdom; I will then sing my insightful song to the accompaniment of a harp.

I will sing a song that imparts wisdom; I will make insightful observations about the past.

Therefore, since we have such a hope, we behave with great boldness,and not like Moses who used to put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites from staring at the result of the glory that was made ineffective.But their minds were closed. For to this very day, the same veil remains when they hear the old covenant read. It has not been removed because only in Christ is it taken away.But until this very day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their minds,but when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is present, there is freedom.And we all, with unveiled faces reflecting the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another, which is from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

So then, exalted to the right hand of God, and having received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, he has poured out what you both see and hear.For David did not ascend into heaven, but he himself says,‘ The Lord said to my lord,“ Sit at my right handuntil I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”’Therefore let all the house of Israel know beyond a doubt that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified both Lord and Christ.”

But we have rejected shameful hidden deeds, not behaving with deceptiveness or distorting the word of God, but by open proclamation of the truth we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience before God.

They will put you out of the synagogue, yet a time is coming when the one who kills you will think he is offering service to God.

In a little while you will see me no longer; again after a little while, you will see me.”Then some of his disciples said to one another,“ What is the meaning of what he is saying,‘ In a little while you will not see me; again after a little while, you will see me,’ and,‘ because I am going to the Father’?”
