“ Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father.

“ I have not been speaking to you plainly. But a time is coming when I will speak clearly. Then I will tell you plainly about my Father.

“ I have said these things to you in figures of speech. The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech but will tell you plainly about the Father.

“ I have spoken of these matters in figures of speech, but soon I will stop speaking figuratively and will tell you plainly all about the Father.

And the disciples came up and said to Him,“ Why do You speak to them in parables?”And Jesus answered them,“ To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted.

I came forth from the Father and have come into the world; again, I am leaving the world and going to the Father.”His disciples* said,“ See, now You are speaking plainly and are not using any figure of speech.

All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables, and He did not speak anything to them without a parable.This was so that what was spoken through the prophet would be fulfilled:“ I will open My mouth in parables; I will proclaim things hidden since the foundation of the world.”

Jesus told them this figure of speech, but they did not understand what the things which He was saying to them meant.

And He* said to them,“ Do you not understand this parable? How will you understand all the parables?

I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will express my riddle on the harp.

I will open my mouth in a parable; I will tell riddles of old,

Therefore, having such a hope, we use great boldness in our speech,and we are not like Moses, who used to put a veil over his face so that the sons of Israel would not stare at the end of what was fading away.But their minds were hardened; for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed in Christ.But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their hearts;but whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.But we all, with unveiled faces, looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

Therefore, since He has been exalted at the right hand of God, and has received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, He has poured out this which you both see and hear.For it was not David who ascended into heaven, but he himself says:‘ The Lord said to my Lord,“ Sit at My right hand,Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.” ’Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ— this Jesus whom you crucified.”

but we have renounced the things hidden because of shame, not walking in trickery nor distorting the word of God, but by the open proclamation of the truth commending ourselves to every person’s conscience in the sight of God.

They will ban you from the synagogue, yet an hour is coming for everyone who kills you to think that he is offering a service to God.

“ A little while, and you no longer are going to see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me.”So some of His disciples said to one another,“ What is this that He is telling us,‘ A little while, and you are not going to see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me’; and,‘ because I am going to the Father’?”
