“ Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father.

“ I have not been speaking to you plainly. But a time is coming when I will speak clearly. Then I will tell you plainly about my Father.

I came from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I am leaving the world and going to the Father.”His disciples said,“ Look, now you’re speaking plainly and not using any figurative language.

Jesus told the crowds all these things in parables, and he did not tell them anything without a parable,so that what was spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled: I will open my mouth in parables; I will declare things kept secret from the foundation of the world.

Jesus gave them this figure of speech, but they did not understand what he was telling them.

Then he said to them,“ Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand all of the parables?

Since, then, we have such a hope, we act with great boldness.We are not like Moses, who used to put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from gazing steadily until the end of the glory of what was being set aside,but their minds were hardened. For to this day, at the reading of the old covenant, the same veil remains; it is not lifted, because it is set aside only in Christ.Yet still today, whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their hearts,but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.

Therefore, since he has been exalted to the right hand of God and has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit, he has poured out what you both see and hear.For it was not David who ascended into the heavens, but he himself says: The Lord declared to my Lord,‘ Sit at my right handuntil I make your enemies your footstool.’“ Therefore let all the house of Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”

Instead, we have renounced secret and shameful things, not acting deceitfully or distorting the word of God, but commending ourselves before God to everyone’s conscience by an open display of the truth.
