人正说平安稳定的时候，灾祸忽然临到他们，如同阵痛临到怀胎的妇人一样，他们绝逃脱不了。

他们必惊恐，悲痛和愁苦将他们抓住。他们阵痛，好像临产的妇人一样，彼此惊奇对看，脸如火焰。

又对女人说：“我必多多加增你怀胎的痛苦，你生儿女时必多受痛苦。你必恋慕你丈夫，他必管辖你。”

因为经上记着：“不怀孕、不生养的，你要欢乐；未曾经过产难的，你要高声欢呼；因为没有丈夫的，比有丈夫的有更多的儿女。”

他使不孕的妇女安居家中，成为快乐的母亲，儿女成群。哈利路亚！

产妇的疼痛必临到他身上；他是无智慧之子，如同临盆时未出现的胎儿。我必救赎他们脱离阴间，救赎他们脱离死亡。死亡啊，你的灾害在哪里？阴间哪，你的毁灭在哪里？怜悯必从我眼前消逝。

撒拉说：“上帝使我欢笑，凡听见的人必与我一同欢笑”，又说：“谁能预先对亚伯拉罕说，撒拉要乳养孩子呢？因为在他年老的时候，我为他生了一个儿子。”

拉结怀孕生子，说：“上帝除去了我的羞耻。”拉结就给他起名叫约瑟，说：“愿耶和华再增添一个儿子给我。”

耶和华啊，他们在急难中寻求你。你的管教临到他们身上时，他们倾吐低声的祷告。妇人怀孕，临产疼痛，在痛苦之中喊叫；耶和华啊，我们在你面前也是如此。我们曾怀孕，曾疼痛，所生产的竟像风一样，并未带给地上任何拯救；世上也未曾有居民生下来。

锡安哪，你要疼痛生产，仿佛临产的妇人；因为你必从城里出来，住在田野；你要到巴比伦去，在那里，你要蒙解救，在那里，耶和华必救赎你脱离仇敌的手掌。

妇人说：“我主啊，请容许我说，我向你，我的主起誓，从前在你这里站着祈求耶和华的那妇人就是我。我祈求为要得这孩子，耶和华已将我向他所求的赐给我了。

她怀了孕，在生产的阵痛中疼痛地喊叫。天上又出现了另一个兆头：有一条大红龙，有七个头十个角；七个头上戴着七个冠冕。它的尾巴拖拉着天上星辰的三分之一，把它们摔在地上。然后龙站在那将要生产的妇人面前，等她生产后要吞吃她的孩子。妇人生了一个男孩子，就是将来要用铁杖管辖万国的；她的孩子被提到上帝和他宝座那里去。

伊利莎白的产期到了，生了一个儿子。邻里亲属听见主向她大施怜悯，就和她一同欢乐。
