当人们正在说一切平安稳妥的时候，灾祸会像产痛临到孕妇一样突然临到他们，令他们无法逃脱。

惊恐万状，痛苦不堪如同分娩的妇人。他们必面面相觑，羞愧得面如火烧。

耶和华上帝对女人说：“我必大大加重你怀孕的痛苦，你分娩时必受痛苦。你必恋慕自己的丈夫，你的丈夫必管辖你。”

因为圣经上说：“不生育、未生养的妇人啊，要快乐；未曾生产的女子啊，要高声欢呼，因为没有丈夫的比有丈夫的儿女更多。”

祂赐给不育的妇人儿女，使她们成为快乐的母亲。你们要赞美耶和华！

临产的阵痛要临到他，但他是毫无智慧的孩子，分娩之时却不离开母腹。我要把他们从阴间的权势下赎回吗？我要救他们脱离死亡吗？死亡啊，你去降灾给他们吧！阴间啊，你去毁灭他们吧！我不会再怜悯他们。

撒拉说：“上帝使我欢笑，凡听见这事的人也必跟我一同欢笑。谁曾料到我会为亚伯拉罕哺养孩子呢？我竟然在丈夫年老的时候给他生了儿子。”

她就怀孕，生了一个儿子，说：“上帝除去了我的羞辱。”她给孩子取名叫约瑟，又说：“愿上帝再给我添一个儿子！”

耶和华啊，我们是你的子民，我们在危难中寻求你。你管教我们的时候，我们就向你祈求。耶和华啊，我们在你面前呼求，如临产的妇人在阵痛中喊叫。我们曾怀胎，痛苦呻吟，但产下来的却是一阵风。我们没有给世界带来拯救，也没有给世上带来生命。

锡安的百姓啊，你们要像分娩的妇人一样辗转呻吟，因为你们现在要离开这城，住在荒野，被掳到巴比伦。在那里，你们将得到解救；在那里，耶和华必从敌人手中救赎你们。

哈娜说：“我主啊，我敢在你面前起誓，我就是那一次站在你这里向耶和华祈求的妇人。我求耶和华赐给我一个孩子，祂应允了我的祈求。

她怀了孕，正因产痛而呼叫。这时天上出现了另一个奇异的景象：有一条红色巨龙出现，它有七头十角，每个头上都戴着冠冕。它的尾巴将天上三分之一的星扫落到地上。巨龙站在那正要生产的妇人面前，等着要吃掉她生下来的婴孩。妇人生下一个男婴，就是将来要用铁杖治理列国的。那男婴被提到了上帝的宝座那里，

伊丽莎白的产期到了，生下一个儿子。亲戚和邻居听见主向她大施怜悯，都和她一同欢乐。
