Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.

What I’m about to tell you is true. You will weep and mourn while the world is full of joy. You will be sad, but your sadness will turn into joy.

I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn over what is going to happen to me, but the world will rejoice. You will grieve, but your grief will suddenly turn to wonderful joy.

Truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice. You will become sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn to joy.

Truly, truly I say to you that you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice; you will grieve, but your grief will be turned into joy!

Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, that ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

“ I assure you: You will weep and wail, but the world will rejoice. You will become sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn to joy.

I tell you the solemn truth, you will weep and wail, but the world will rejoice; you will be sad, but your sadness will turn into joy.

Most certainly I tell you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,

“ Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

She went and told those who had been with him, as they mourned and wept.

In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,so that the tested genuineness of your faith— more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire— may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory,

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,

And there followed him a great multitude of the people and of women who were mourning and lamenting for him.

as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything.

I said to him,“ Sir, you know.” And he said to me,“ These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.“ Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat.For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy!He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.

I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry.He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.

But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened.

For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.”

Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy,

More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.

And he went out and wept bitterly.

Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name.

He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken.It will be said on that day,“ Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”

that the exulting of the wicked is short, and the joy of the godless but for a moment?

And he said to them,“ What is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?” And they stood still, looking sad.

And when he rose from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow,

And immediately the rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had said to him,“ Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” And he broke down and wept.

As she glorified herself and lived in luxury, so give her a like measure of torment and mourning, since in her heart she says,‘ I sit as a queen, I am no widow, and mourning I shall never see.’

Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts,praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

and those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and make merry and exchange presents, because these two prophets had been a torment to those who dwell on the earth.

“ Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied.“ Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.

Hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at his word:“ Your brothers who hate you and cast you out for my name’s sake have said,‘ Let the Lord be glorified, that we may see your joy’; but it is they who shall be put to shame.

Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,

You will say in that day:“ I will give thanks to you, O Lord, for though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, that you might comfort me.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.

The next day, that is, after the day of Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilateand said,“ Sir, we remember how that impostor said, while he was still alive,‘ After three days I will rise.’Therefore order the tomb to be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples go and steal him away and tell the people,‘ He has risen from the dead,’ and the last fraud will be worse than the first.”Pilate said to them,“ You have a guard of soldiers. Go, make it as secure as you can.”So they went and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone and setting a guard.

Now when the centurion saw what had taken place, he praised God, saying,“ Certainly this man was innocent!”And all the crowds that had assembled for this spectacle, when they saw what had taken place, returned home beating their breasts.And all his acquaintances and the women who had followed him from Galilee stood at a distance watching these things.

With weeping they shall come, and with pleas for mercy I will lead them back, I will make them walk by brooks of water, in a straight path in which they shall not stumble, for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.“ Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it in the coastlands far away; say,‘ He who scattered Israel will gather him, and will keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.’For the Lord has ransomed Jacob and has redeemed him from hands too strong for him.They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion, and they shall be radiant over the goodness of the Lord, over the grain, the wine, and the oil, and over the young of the flock and the herd; their life shall be like a watered garden, and they shall languish no more.Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy; I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow.I will feast the soul of the priests with abundance, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, declares the Lord.”

And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit,

And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads and saying,“ Aha! You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,save yourself, and come down from the cross!”So also the chief priests with the scribes mocked him to one another, saying,“ He saved others; he cannot save himself.Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross that we may see and believe.” Those who were crucified with him also reviled him.

And those who passed by derided him, wagging their headsand saying,“ You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”So also the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him, saying,“ He saved others; he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him. For he said,‘ I am the Son of God.’”And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way.

but standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother,“ Woman, behold, your son!”Then he said to the disciple,“ Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.

When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.

But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves,‘ This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and have his inheritance.’
