In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who comes from God, so that we may understand what has been freely given to us by God.We also speak these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people.

He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive him because it doesn’t see him or know him. But you do know him, because he remains with you and will be in you.

“ When the Counselor comes, the one I will send to you from the Father— the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father— he will testify about me.

We are from God. Anyone who knows God listens to us; anyone who is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception.

But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.

As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you don’t need anyone to teach you. Instead, his anointing teaches you about all things and is true and is not a lie; just as it has taught you, remain in him.

Jesus answered them,“ My teaching isn’t mine but is from the one who sent me.If anyone wants to do his will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own.The one who speaks on his own seeks his own glory; but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is true, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

And it will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all people; then your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.I will even pour out my Spirit on my servants in those days, both men and women and they will prophesy.

For I have not spoken on my own, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a command to say everything I have said.

Therefore write what you have seen, what is, and what will take place after this.

Jesus told him,“ I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

But know this: Hard times will come in the last days.For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud, demeaning, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good,traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,holding to the form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid these people.

Now the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will depart from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons,through the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared.They forbid marriage and demand abstinence from foods that God created to be received with gratitude by those who believe and know the truth.

I speak what I have seen in the presence of the Father; so then, you do what you have heard from your father.”

Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way. For that day will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.

so that all will be condemned— those who did not believe the truth but delighted in unrighteousness.

Now grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.For it says: When he ascended on high, he took the captives captive; he gave gifts to people.But what does“ he ascended” mean except that he also descended to the lower parts of the earth?The one who descended is also the one who ascended far above all the heavens, to fill all things.And he himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers,to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ,until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into maturity with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness.Then we will no longer be little children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit.But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into him who is the head— Christ.

There were indeed false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, and will bring swift destruction on themselves.Many will follow their depraved ways, and the way of truth will be maligned because of them.They will exploit you in their greed with made-up stories. Their condemnation, pronounced long ago, is not idle, and their destruction does not sleep.For if God didn’t spare the angels who sinned but cast them into hell and delivered them in chains of utter darkness to be kept for judgment;and if he didn’t spare the ancient world, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others, when he brought the flood on the world of the ungodly;and if he reduced the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes and condemned them to extinction, making them an example of what is coming to the ungodly;and if he rescued righteous Lot, distressed by the depraved behavior of the immoral( for as that righteous man lived among them day by day, his righteous soul was tormented by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)—then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment,especially those who follow the polluting desires of the flesh and despise authority. Bold, arrogant people! They are not afraid to slander the glorious ones;however, angels, who are greater in might and power, do not bring a slanderous charge against them before the Lord.But these people, like irrational animals— creatures of instinct born to be caught and destroyed— slander what they do not understand, and in their destruction they too will be destroyed.They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. They consider it a pleasure to carouse in broad daylight. They are spots and blemishes, delighting in their deceptions while they feast with you.They have eyes full of adultery that never stop looking for sin. They seduce unstable people and have hearts trained in greed. Children under a curse!They have gone astray by abandoning the straight path and have followed the path of Balaam, the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of wickednessbut received a rebuke for his lawlessness: A speechless donkey spoke with a human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.These people are springs without water, mists driven by a storm. The gloom of darkness has been reserved for them.For by uttering boastful, empty words, they seduce, with fleshly desires and debauchery, people who have barely escaped from those who live in error.They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption, since people are enslaved to whatever defeats them.For if, having escaped the world’s impurity through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in these things and defeated, the last state is worse for them than the first.For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy command delivered to them.It has happened to them according to the true proverb: A dog returns to its own vomit, and,“ A washed sow returns to wallowing in the mud.”

and said,‘ Don’t be afraid, Paul. It is necessary for you to appear before Caesar. And indeed, God has graciously given you all those who are sailing with you.’

He testifies to what he has seen and heard, and yet no one accepts his testimony.

The revelation of Jesus Christ that God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,

One of them, named Agabus, stood up and predicted by the Spirit that there would be a severe famine throughout the Roman world. This took place during the reign of Claudius.

This man had four virgin daughters who prophesied.After we had been there for several days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea.He came to us, took Paul’s belt, tied his own feet and hands, and said,“ This is what the Holy Spirit says:‘ In this way the Jews in Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and deliver him over to the Gentiles.’”

except that in every town the Holy Spirit warns me that chains and afflictions are waiting for me.

After this I will pour out my Spirit on all humanity; then your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will have dreams, and your young men will see visions.

Then I saw the Lamb open one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say with a voice like thunder,“ Come!”I looked, and there was a white horse. Its rider held a bow; a crown was given to him, and he went out as a conqueror in order to conquer.When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say,“ Come!”Then another horse went out, a fiery red one, and its rider was allowed to take peace from the earth, so that people would slaughter one another. And a large sword was given to him.When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say,“ Come!” And I looked, and there was a black horse. Its rider held a set of scales in his hand.Then I heard something like a voice among the four living creatures say,“ A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius, but do not harm the oil and the wine.”When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say,“ Come!”And I looked, and there was a pale green horse. Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following after him. They were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill by the sword, by famine, by plague, and by the wild animals of the earth.When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slaughtered because of the word of God and the testimony they had given.They cried out with a loud voice,“ Lord, the one who is holy and true, how long until you judge those who live on the earth and avenge our blood?”So they were each given a white robe, and they were told to rest a little while longer until the number would be completed of their fellow servants and their brothers and sisters, who were going to be killed just as they had been.Then I saw him open the sixth seal. A violent earthquake occurred; the sun turned black like sackcloth made of hair; the entire moon became like blood;the stars of heaven fell to the earth as a fig tree drops its unripe figs when shaken by a high wind;the sky was split apart like a scroll being rolled up; and every mountain and island was moved from its place.Then the kings of the earth, the nobles, the generals, the rich, the powerful, and every slave and free person hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains.And they said to the mountains and to the rocks,“ Fall on us and hide us from the face of the one seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb,because the great day of their wrath has come! And who is able to stand?”

Then he showed me the river of the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lambdown the middle of the city’s main street. The tree of life was on each side of the river, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, producing its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree are for healing the nations,and there will no longer be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will worship him.They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.Night will be no more; people will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, because the Lord God will give them light, and they will reign forever and ever.Then he said to me,“ These words are faithful and true. The Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent his angel to show his servants what must soon take place.”“ Look, I am coming soon! Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. When I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had shown them to me.But he said to me,“ Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you, your brothers the prophets, and those who keep the words of this book. Worship God!”Then he said to me,“ Don’t seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, because the time is near.Let the unrighteous go on in unrighteousness; let the filthy still be filthy; let the righteous go on in righteousness; let the holy still be holy.”“ Look, I am coming soon, and my reward is with me to repay each person according to his work.I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.“ Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates.Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.“ I, Jesus, have sent my angel to attest these things to you for the churches. I am the Root and descendant of David, the bright morning star.”Both the Spirit and the bride say,“ Come!” Let anyone who hears, say,“ Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come. Let the one who desires take the water of life freely.I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book.And if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share of the tree of life and the holy city, which are written about in this book.He who testifies about these things says,“ Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!The grace of the Lord Jesus be with everyone. Amen.
