“ These things I have spoken to you so that you will not be led into sin.

我以此語爾、免爾傾覆、

我以此告爾、免爾厭棄我、

我以此告爾、免爾因我躓蹶、

予以此預告、庶幾來日爾等意志不致搖動。

“ All this I have told you so that you will not fall away.

“ I have told you all this so that you will not turn away from the truth.

“ I have said all these things to you to keep you from falling away.

“ I have told you these things so that you won’t abandon your faith.

“ I have told you these things to keep you from stumbling.

“ These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble.

These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be caused to stumble.

“ I have told you these things to keep you from stumbling.

These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.

“ I have told you all these things so that you will not fall away.

“ I have said these things to you so that you wouldn’t be caused to stumble.

and,“ A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense”; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this they were also appointed.

yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution occurs because of the word, immediately he falls away.

But these things I have spoken to you, so that when their hour comes, you may remember that I told you of them. However, I did not say these things to you at the beginning, because I was with you.

so that you may discover the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and blameless for the day of Christ;

Then Jesus* said to them,“ You will all fall away because of Me this night, for it is written:‘ I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’But after I have been raised, I will go ahead of you to Galilee.”But Peter replied to Him,“ Even if they all fall away because of You, I will never fall away!”

And at that time many will fall away, and they will betray one another and hate one another.

It is good not to eat meat or to drink wine, or to do anything by which your brother or sister stumbles.

And blessed is any person who does not take offense at Me.”

“ If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you.If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.Remember the word that I said to you,‘ A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you as well; if they followed My word, they will follow yours also.But all these things they will do to you on account of My name, because they do not know the One who sent Me.If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.The one who hates Me hates My Father also.If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated Me and My Father as well.But this has happened so that the word that is written in their Law will be fulfilled:‘ They hated Me for no reason.’“ When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, namely, the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father, He will testify about Me,and you are testifying as well, because you have been with Me from the beginning.

And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them,“ A prophet is not dishonored except in his hometown and in his own household.”

These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.
