這就像一塊地，吸收了常常下在它上面的雨水，如果長出對種植的人有用的菜蔬，就從神那裡得福。但如果這塊地長出荊棘和蒺藜來，就被廢棄，近於咒詛，結局就是焚燒。

所有屬我而不結果子的枝子，他就剪去；所有結果子的，他就修剪乾淨，讓它結更多的果子。

但這葡萄樹因神的烈怒被拔起，摔在地上；東風使它的果子枯乾散掉，粗壯的樹枝枯槁，被火吞滅。現在它被栽種在曠野，在乾旱無水之地。有火從樹枝中的一根發出，吞滅樹的果子，以致樹上再沒有粗壯的樹枝，可以作掌權者的杖。’這是一首哀歌，是一首流行的哀歌。”

那時，人子要差派他的使者，把一切使人犯罪的事和不法之徒，從他的國中拔掉，

如果他們因為認識我們的主、救主耶穌基督，可以脫離世上的污穢，後來又在其中被纏住、受制伏，他們末了的景況，就比先前的更不好了。

現在斧頭已經放在樹根上，所有不結好果子的樹，就砍下來，丟在火裡。

人可以從葡萄樹上取木料製造物件嗎？可以從葡萄樹上取木料做釘子掛器皿嗎？看哪！已經拋在火裡當作燃料，火既燒毀了兩端，連中間也燒焦了，它還可以用來製造物件嗎？看哪！它完整的時候，尚且不能用來製造物件，何況它被火燒毀和燒焦了，它還能用來做甚麼呢？”因此，主耶和華這樣說：“我怎樣把樹林中的葡萄樹拋在火裡當作燃料，也必照樣對待耶路撒冷的居民。我必變臉攻擊他們；他們雖然從火裡逃出來，火仍要吞滅他們；我變臉攻擊他們的時候，你們就知道我是耶和華。

凡是名字沒有記在生命冊上的，他就被拋在火湖裡。

他們從我們中間離去，這就表明他們是不屬於我們的。其實他們並不屬於我們，如果真的屬於我們，就一定會留在我們中間。

你要說：‘主耶和華這樣說：這葡萄樹怎能茂盛呢？鷹不是要拔出它的根來，啄光它的果子，使它和它長出的一切嫩葉都枯乾嗎？其實，要把它連根拔起，並不需要很多人或很大的氣力。

這些人膽敢與你們同席，他們只顧餵飽（“餵飽”或譯：“牧養”）自己，是你們愛筵中的暗礁；是無雨的浮雲，隨風飄蕩；是秋天不結果子的樹，連根拔起，死而又死；是海中的狂浪，濺起了自己可恥的泡沫；是流蕩的星，有漆黑的幽暗永遠為他們存留。

只好恐懼地等待著審判，和那快要吞滅眾仇敵的烈火。

眷顧你右手栽種的根，和你為自己培育的兒子。

但你要從你的墳墓中被逐出，好像一根被厭棄的樹枝，你被那些遭刀劍所殺的人掩蓋，就是那些被拋到坑中石頭那裡的人。你就像一具遭人踐踏的屍體。

猶大把銀子丟進聖所，然後離開，出去吊死了。

堅固的城變為淒涼，成了被撇下、被放棄的居所，像曠野一樣；牛犢必在那裡吃草，在那裡躺臥，並且吃盡那裡的樹枝。

他不能離開黑暗，火燄必燒乾他的嫩枝，他必因神口中的氣而離去。

只是那些膽怯的、不信的、可憎的、殺人的、淫亂的、行邪術的、拜偶像的和所有說謊的人，他們的分是在燒著硫磺的火湖裡。這就是第二次的死。”
