As for you, what you have heard from the beginning must remain in you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things, it is true and is not a lie. Just as it has taught you, you reside in him.And now, little children, remain in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink away from him in shame when he comes back.

filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God.

“ I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me– and I in him– bears much fruit, because apart from me you can accomplish nothing.If anyone does not remain in me, he is thrown out like a branch, and dries up; and such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, and are burned up.If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you.

You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him.But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is your life because of righteousness.

You will know at that time that I am in my Father and you are in me and I am in you.

“ Son of man, of all the woody branches among the trees of the forest, what happens to the wood of the vine?Can wood be taken from it to make anything useful? Or can anyone make a peg from it to hang things on?No! It is thrown in the fire for fuel; when the fire has burned up both ends of it and it is charred in the middle, will it be useful for anything?Indeed! If it was not made into anything useful when it was whole, how much less can it be made into anything when the fire has burned it up and it is charred?

But as for the seed that landed on good soil, these are the ones who, after hearing the word, cling to it with an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with steadfast endurance.

Therefore, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him,

I in them and you in me– that they may be completely one, so that the world will know that you sent me, and you have loved them just as you have loved me.

God wanted to make known to them the glorious riches of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

They strengthened the souls of the disciples and encouraged them to continue in the faith, saying,“ We must enter the kingdom of God through many persecutions.”

Put yourselves to the test to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize regarding yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you– unless, indeed, you fail the test!

that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, so that, because you have been rooted and grounded in love,

When he came and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with devoted hearts,

if indeed you remain in the faith, established and firm, without shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard. This gospel has also been preached in all creation under heaven, and I, Paul, have become its servant.

I asked the Lord three times about this, that it would depart from me.But he said to me,“ My grace is enough for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” So then, I will boast most gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may reside in me.Therefore I am content with weaknesses, with insults, with troubles, with persecutions and difficulties for the sake of Christ, for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.

But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith, by praying in the Holy Spirit,maintain yourselves in the love of God, while anticipating the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that brings eternal life.

But we are not among those who shrink back and thus perish, but are among those who have faith and preserve their souls.

So when I could bear it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith, for fear that the tempter somehow tempted you and our toil had proven useless.

Who is this coming up from the desert, leaning on her beloved? Under the apple tree I aroused you; there your mother conceived you, there she who bore you was in labor of childbirth.

For the fortified city is left alone; it is a deserted settlement and abandoned like the desert. Calves graze there; they lie down there and eat its branches bare.When its branches get brittle, they break; women come and use them for kindling. For these people lack understanding, therefore the one who made them has no compassion on them; the one who formed them has no mercy on them.
