那时，你们在过犯罪恶中生活，随从今世的风俗，顺服空中掌权者的领袖，就是现今在悖逆的人心中运行的邪灵。我们从前也都生活在他们当中，放纵肉体的私欲，随着肉体和心中的意念去做，和别人一样，生来就是该受惩罚的人。然而，神有丰富的怜悯，因着他爱我们的大爱，竟在我们因过犯而死了的时候，使我们与基督一同活过来—可见你们得救是本乎恩—

我们从前也是无知、悖逆、受迷惑，作各样私欲和宴乐的奴隶，在恶毒、嫉妒中度日，是可恨的，而且彼此相恨。但到了我们救主神的恩慈和慈爱显明的时候，他救了我们，并不是因我们自己所行的义，而是照他的怜悯，藉着重生的洗和圣灵的更新。圣灵就是神藉着我们的救主耶稣基督厚厚地浇灌在我们身上的，好让我们因他的恩得称为义，可以凭着永生的盼望成为后嗣。

不过，你们是被拣选的一族，是君尊的祭司，是神圣的国度，是属神的子民，要使你们宣扬那召你们出黑暗入奇妙光明者的美德。“你们从前不是子民，现在却成了神的子民；从前未曾蒙怜悯，现在却蒙了怜悯。”亲爱的，你们是客旅，是寄居的，我劝你们要禁戒肉体的情欲；这情欲是与灵魂争战的。你们在外邦人中要品行端正，好让那些人，虽然毁谤你们是作恶的，会因看见你们的好行为而在鉴察的日子归荣耀给神。

你们若只爱那爱你们的人，有什么可感谢的呢？就是罪人也爱那爱他们的人。

因为你们从前随从外邦人的心意，生活在淫荡、情欲、醉酒、荒宴、狂饮和可憎的偶像崇拜中，时候已经够了。

那一千年满了，撒但会从监牢里被释放，出来要迷惑地上四方的列国，就是歌革和玛各，使他们聚集争战。他们的人数多如海沙。他们上来布满了全地，围住圣徒的营与蒙爱的城，就有火从天降下，烧灭了他们。

于是龙向妇人发怒，去与她其余的儿女作战，就是与那些遵守神命令、为耶稣作见证的。

大龙就是那古蛇，名叫魔鬼，又叫撒但，是迷惑普天下的；它被摔在地上，它的使者也一同被摔下去。
