I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me,

We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under the control of the evil one.

The time for judging this world has come, when Satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out.

For we are not fighting against flesh and blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

This great dragon— the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world— was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.

He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone.

You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil— the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.

Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.

This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.

Judgment will come because the ruler of this world has already been judged.“ There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now.

Why didn’t you arrest me in the Temple? I was there every day. But this is your moment, the time when the power of darkness reigns.”

The angel replied,“ The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.

When the thousand years come to an end, Satan will be let out of his prison.He will go out to deceive the nations— called Gog and Magog— in every corner of the earth. He will gather them together for battle— a mighty army, as numberless as sand along the seashore.

During the forty days after he suffered and died, he appeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive. And he talked to them about the Kingdom of God.

He is the kind of high priest we need because he is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place of honor in heaven.

Then he said,“ When I was with you before, I told you that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms must be fulfilled.”Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.And he said,“ Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day.It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem:‘ There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’You are witnesses of all these things.“ And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.”

For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son,

He seized the dragon— that old serpent, who is the devil, Satan— and bound him in chains for a thousand years.The angel threw him into the bottomless pit, which he then shut and locked so Satan could not deceive the nations anymore until the thousand years were finished. Afterward he must be released for a little while.

For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.
