The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will reveal myself to him.”“ Lord,” Judas( not Judas Iscariot) said,“ what has happened that you are going to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?”Jesus replied,“ If anyone loves me, he will obey my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and take up residence with him.

For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for he does not give the Spirit sparingly.

We have come to know love by this: that Jesus laid down his life for us; thus we ought to lay down our lives for our fellow Christians.But whoever has the world’s possessions and sees his fellow Christian in need and shuts off his compassion against him, how can the love of God reside in such a person?Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue but in deed and truth.And by this we will know that we are of the truth and will convince our conscience in his presence,that if our conscience condemns us, that God is greater than our conscience and knows all things.

“ If you love me, you will obey my commandments.

So Jesus answered them,“ I tell you the solemn truth, the Son can do nothing on his own initiative, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, the Son does likewise.

“ Then he will say to those on his left,‘ Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire that has been prepared for the devil and his angels!For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink.I was a stranger and you did not receive me as a guest, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’Then they too will answer,‘ Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not give you whatever you needed?’Then he will answer them,‘ I tell you the truth, just as you did not do it for one of the least of these, you did not do it for me.’And these will depart into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

I have many things to say and to judge about you, but the Father who sent me is truthful, and the things I have heard from him I speak to the world.”

I am telling you the things I have seen while with the Father; as for you, practice the things you have heard from the Father!”

Then Jesus said,“ When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and I do nothing on my own initiative, but I speak just what the Father taught me.

But Jesus shouted out,“ The one who believes in me does not believe in me, but in the one who sent me,and the one who sees me sees the one who sent me.I have come as a light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me should not remain in darkness.If anyone hears my words and does not obey them, I do not judge him. For I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world.The one who rejects me and does not accept my words has a judge; the word I have spoken will judge him at the last day.For I have not spoken from my own authority, but the Father himself who sent me has commanded me what I should say and what I should speak.And I know that his commandment is eternal life. Thus the things I say, I say just as the Father has told me.”

Then Jesus, while teaching in the temple courts, cried out,“ You both know me and know where I come from! And I have not come on my own initiative, but the one who sent me is true. You do not know him,

I am not saying this as a command, but I am testing the genuineness of your love by comparison with the eagerness of others.For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that although he was rich, he became poor for your sakes, so that you by his poverty could become rich.

Jesus said to him,“ If you wish to be perfect, go sell your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
