Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.

in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began,

for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

Therefore it was necessary that the copies of the things in the heavens should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us;not that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood of another—He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,

the Holy Spirit indicating this, that the way into the Holiest of All was not yet made manifest while the first tabernacle was still standing.

that no one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we are appointed to this.For, in fact, we told you before when we were with you that we would suffer tribulation, just as it happened, and you know.

“ If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it—lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him,saying,‘ This man began to build and was not able to finish’?Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace.So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.

To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure,which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer;since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you,and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels,in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed.

For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake.”

And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.And he who talked with me had a gold reed to measure the city, its gates, and its wall.The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs. Its length, breadth, and height are equal.Then he measured its wall: one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel.The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass.The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald,the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.Its gates shall not be shut at all by day( there shall be no night there).And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it.But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
