I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked,“ My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?”
At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.
Jesus answered,“ Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.”For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean. When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place.“ Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them.
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.
Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
Simon Peter asked him,“ Lord, where are you going?” Jesus replied,“ Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.”
I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint. Then the Lord replied:“ Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.
Once more fields will be bought in this land of which you say,‘ It is a desolate waste, without people or animals, for it has been given into the hands of the Babylonians.’
“ See how the siege ramps are built up to take the city. Because of the sword, famine and plague, the city will be given into the hands of the Babylonians who are attacking it. What you said has happened, as you now see.And though the city will be given into the hands of the Babylonians, you, Sovereign Lord, say to me,‘ Buy the field with silver and have the transaction witnessed.’”
