He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.

上帝僕以利沙之從者、其哈西私念曰、我主釋此亞蘭人乃慢、不受其所饋、我指耶和華以誓、我將追之、冀有少得。於是從乃慢後。乃慢見其趨至、則下車迓之曰、安乎。曰安、我主遣我告爾、曰、今有先知之徒、年少者二人、自以法蓮山來就我、請以銀一千五百、及衣二襲與之。乃慢曰、請受三千、促之而許。遂取銀三千、盛於二囊、與衣二襲、使二僕負之以行、在其哈西前。至於山岡則受之、藏於室中、遂遣二僕往。進立於主前。以利沙曰、其哈西從何而至。曰、僕無所往。曰彼下車迓爾之時、我心非與爾同在乎。此時豈可受人所饋、或金、或衣、以售橄欖圃、葡萄園、牛羊僕婢乎。故乃慢之癩、必移於爾、及爾苗裔、歷世勿愈、遂出成癩、皓白如雪。

如有人金鐶美服、入爾會堂、亦有貧人、敝衣並入、

貧人之事、義者力為治理、惡者置若罔聞。

乃予諸工作、修葺耶和華殿。督工者秉性誠實、故予金以償工值、毋庸核數。

傭逃者、以其為傭、不顧羊耳、

惟欲我念貧者、我亦殷勤為是矣、

時我簡祭司諸長十二人、即示哩比、哈沙庇、及其同儕十人。以王與言官、群伯、以色列眾所輸之金銀器皿、供我上帝殿、權衡其數。得銀九十七萬五千兩、金銀器皿、各十五萬兩。金盂二十、重六千兩、銅盂二、其色光華、可比兼金。我告祭司曰、爾潔己奉事耶和華、金銀器皿為人樂輸、奉事我列祖之上帝耶和華、亦視為潔。爾當恪守、迨於耶路撒冷、耶和華殿中、祭司諸長、利未人、以色列族中最著者前、再權衡之。祭司利未人收金銀器皿、運至耶路撒冷、入上帝殿、正月十二日、我離亞哈瓦河濱、欲往耶路撒冷、上帝祐我、援我於敵、乃途間伏兵。遂至耶路撒冷、寓彼三日、越至四日、在上帝殿中、祭司烏利亞子米哩末、非尼哈子以利亞撒及利未人耶書亞子約撒八、品內子挪亞底、權衡金銀器皿、登其數於册、

彼既至、坐於爾前、若我民然、聽爾言而不行、口所言則愛爾不置、其心貪婪、

寇攘、貪婪、沉湎、詬誶、殘酷者、皆不得上帝國也、

有類於惡者去之、

氓之蚩蚩、謂上帝為無有、惟惡是作兮、喪其本心、不孳孳而行仁兮、

不第此、亦為諸會所擇、與我同行、送我所集之金、歸榮吾主、表爾善心、所慮者、恐人謗我、為集多金、自務善事、不第主所知、亦人所知、

不由門入者、竊也、盜也、羊不之聽、我即門也、由我入者得救、出入得芻、盜至、特以攘、以殺、以滅、我至使羊得生且盛、
