Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue;

At the same time that Jesus did those signs, many of the Jewish leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees, they would not openly admit they believed. They were afraid they would be thrown out of the synagogue.

知道公義、將我的訓誨存在心中的人哪，當聽從我！不要怕人的辱罵，也不要因人的毀謗驚惶。

可是沒有人公開談論他，因為他們怕猶太人。

他父母說這些話，是怕猶太人，因為猶太人已經商定，若有宣認耶穌是基督的，要把他趕出會堂。

懼怕人的，陷入圈套；惟有倚靠耶和華的，必得安穩。

「所以，凡在人面前認我的，我在我天上的父面前也必認他；

這人夜裏來見耶穌，對他說：「拉比，我們知道你是由上帝那裏來作老師的；因為你所行的神蹟，若沒有上帝同在，無人能行。」

凡宣認耶穌基督是成了肉身而來的靈就是出於上帝的，由此你們可以認出上帝的靈來；

於是來看馬利亞的猶太人中，有很多人見了耶穌所做的事，就信了他。

因為有許多猶太人為了拉撒路的緣故，開始背離他們，信了耶穌。

他們回答他說：「你完全是生在罪中的，還要來教訓我們嗎？」於是他們把他趕出去了。

難道官長或法利賽人中有信他的嗎？但這些不明白律法的眾人是被詛咒的！」其中有尼哥德慕，就是從前去見過耶穌的，對他們說：「不先聽本人的口供，查明他所做的事，難道我們的律法還定他的罪嗎？」

人為人子的緣故憎恨你們，拒絕你們，辱罵你們，把你們當惡人除掉你們的名，你們就有福了！

你們因耶和華言語而戰兢的人哪，當聽他的話：「你們的弟兄，就是恨惡你們，因我名趕出你們的，曾說：『願耶和華彰顯榮耀，好讓我們看見你們的喜樂。』但蒙羞的終究是他們！

他們歡歡喜喜地離開議會，因他們算配為這名受辱。

彼得在外面院子裏坐着，有一個使女前來，說：「你素來也是同那加利利人耶穌一起的。」彼得在眾人面前卻不承認，說：「我不知道你說的是甚麼！」他出去，到了門口，又有一個使女看見他，就對那裏的人說：「這個人是同拿撒勒人耶穌一起的。」彼得又不承認，起誓說：「我不認得那個人。」過了不久，旁邊站着的人進前來，對彼得說：「你的確是他們一夥的，你的口音把你顯露出來了彼得就賭咒發誓說：「我不認得那個人。」立刻雞就叫了。彼得想起耶穌所說的話：「雞叫以前，你要三次不認我。」他就出去痛哭。

「我又告訴你們，凡在人面前認我的，人子在上帝的使者面前也必認他；

人要把你們趕出會堂，而且時候將到，凡殺你們的還以為是在事奉上帝。

因為，人心裏信就可以稱義，口裏宣認就可以得救。

這些事以後，亞利馬太的約瑟來求彼拉多，要把耶穌的身體領去。他是耶穌的門徒，只因怕猶太人，就暗地裏作門徒。彼拉多准許了，他就把耶穌的身體領走。

你怕誰，因誰恐懼，竟說謊，不記得我，不將這事放在心上。是否因我許久閉口不言，你就不怕我了呢？

親愛的，有火一般的考驗臨到你們，不要奇怪，似乎是遭遇非常的事；倒要歡喜，因為你們是與基督一同受苦，使你們在他榮耀顯現的時候也可以歡喜快樂。你們若為基督的名受辱罵是有福的，因為榮耀的靈，就是上帝的靈，在你們身上。你們中間，不可有人因為殺人、偷竊、作惡、好管閒事而受苦。若有人因是基督徒而受苦，不要引以為恥，倒要因這名而歸榮耀給上帝。

凡宣認耶穌為上帝兒子的，上帝就住在他裏面，而他也住在上帝裏面。
