Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue;

At the same time that Jesus did those signs, many of the Jewish leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees, they would not openly admit they believed. They were afraid they would be thrown out of the synagogue.

Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue;

Many people did believe in him, however, including some of the Jewish leaders. But they wouldn’t admit it for fear that the Pharisees would expel them from the synagogue.

Still, nobody was talking publicly about Him because they feared the Jews.

His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jews, since the Jews had already agreed that if anyone confessed Him as Messiah, he would be banned from the synagogue.

The fear of man is a snare, but the one who trusts in the Lord is protected.

“ Therefore, everyone who will acknowledge Me before men, I will also acknowledge him before My Father in heaven.

This man came to Him at night and said,“ Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher, for no one could perform these signs You do unless God were with him.”

This is how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit who confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God.

Therefore, many of the Jews who came to Mary and saw what He did believed in Him.

because he was the reason many of the Jews were deserting them and believing in Jesus.

“ You were born entirely in sin,” they replied,“ and are you trying to teach us?” Then they threw him out.

Have any of the rulers or Pharisees believed in Him?But this crowd, which doesn’t know the law, is accursed!”Nicodemus— the one who came to Him previously, being one of them— said to them,“ Our law doesn’t judge a man before it hears from him and knows what he’s doing, does it?”

You are blessed when people hate you, when they exclude you, insult you, and slander your name as evil because of the Son of Man.

You who tremble at His word, hear the word of the Lord:“ Your brothers who hate and exclude you because of Me have said,‘ Let the Lord be glorified so that we can see your joy!’ But they will be put to shame.”

Then they went out from the presence of the Sanhedrin, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to be dishonored on behalf of the Name.

Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. A servant approached him and she said,“ You were with Jesus the Galilean too.”But he denied it in front of everyone:“ I don’t know what you’re talking about!”When he had gone out to the gateway, another woman saw him and told those who were there,“ This man was with Jesus the Nazarene!”And again he denied it with an oath,“ I don’t know the man!”After a little while those standing there approached and said to Peter,“ You certainly are one of them, since even your accent gives you away.”Then he started to curse and to swear with an oath,“ I do not know the man!” Immediately a rooster crowed,and Peter remembered the words Jesus had spoken,“ Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.

“ And I say to you, anyone who acknowledges Me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God,

They will ban you from the synagogues. In fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering service to God.

One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.

After this, Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus— but secretly because of his fear of the Jews— asked Pilate that he might remove Jesus’ body. Pilate gave him permission, so he came and took His body away.

Who was it you dreaded and feared, so that you lied and didn’t remember Me or take it to heart? Have I not kept silent for such a long time and you do not fear Me?

Dear friends, don’t be surprised when the fiery ordeal comes among you to test you as if something unusual were happening to you.Instead, rejoice as you share in the sufferings of the Messiah, so that you may also rejoice with great joy at the revelation of His glory.If you are ridiculed for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.None of you, however, should suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or a meddler.But if anyone suffers as a“ Christian,” he should not be ashamed but should glorify God in having that name.

Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God— God remains in him and he in God.
