But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected,

Then Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, one of his disciples, who would betray him, said,

( Now Judas, the one who betrayed him, knew the place too, because Jesus had met there many times with his disciples.)So Judas obtained a squad of soldiers and some officers of the chief priests and Pharisees. They came to the orchard with lanterns and torches and weapons.Then Jesus, because he knew everything that was going to happen to him, came and asked them,“ Who are you looking for?”They replied,“ Jesus the Nazarene.” He told them,“ I am he.”( Now Judas, the one who betrayed him, was standing there with them.)

Jesus replied,“ Didn’t I choose you, the twelve, and yet one of you is the devil?”( Now he said this about Judas son of Simon Iscariot, for Judas, one of the twelve, was going to betray him.)

Jesus replied,“ It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread after I have dipped it in the dish.” Then he dipped the piece of bread in the dish and gave it to Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son.

The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, that he should betray Jesus.

When David’s oldest brother Eliab heard him speaking to the men, he became angry with David and said,“ Why have you come down here? To whom did you entrust those few sheep in the desert? I am familiar with your pride and deceit! You have come down here to watch the battle!”David replied,“ What have I done now? Can’t I say anything?”

Then I considered all the skillful work that is done: Surely it is nothing more than competition between one person and another. This also is profitless– like chasing the wind.
