於是他們拿石頭要打他，耶穌卻躲開，走出了聖殿。

主人就誇獎這不義的管家做事精明，因為今世之子應付自己的世代比光明之子更加精明。

從前你們是暗昧的，但如今在主裏面是光明的，行事為人要像光明的子女－

你們都是光明之子，都是白晝之子；我們不屬黑夜，也不屬幽暗。

因為主曾這樣吩咐我們：『我已經立你作萬邦之光，使你施行我的救恩，直到地極。』」外邦人聽見這話很歡喜，讚美主的道，凡被指定得永生的人都信了。

興起，發光！因為你的光已來到！耶和華的榮光發出照耀着你。

這人來是為了作見證，是為那光作見證，要使眾人藉着他而信。

但既然我們屬於白晝，就應當謹慎，把信和愛當作護心鏡遮胸，把得救的盼望當作頭盔戴上。

所以，耶穌不再公開在猶太人中走動，卻離開那裏，往靠近曠野的鄉間去，到了一座城，名叫以法蓮，就在那裏和門徒住下來。

但實行真理的人就來接近光，為要顯明他的行為是靠上帝而行的。」

於是，他們又要捉拿他，他卻從他們手中逃脫了。耶穌又往約旦河的東邊去，到了約翰起初施洗的地方，就住在那裏。

人若說自己在光明中，卻恨他的弟兄，他到如今還是在黑暗裏。那愛弟兄的，就是住在光明中，他不會使人失足犯罪。惟獨那恨弟兄的，是在黑暗裏，也在黑暗裏行走，不知道往哪裏去，因為黑暗使他的眼睛瞎了。

於是他離開他們，出城到伯大尼去，在那裏過夜。
