他们因此拿起石头要砸他。耶稣却被隐藏，离开了圣殿。

“于是主人因这个不义的管家做事精明，就称赞他。这样看来，今世的儿女在自己的世代里，比光明的儿女还要聪明。

锡安哪，起来，发出亮光！因为你的光已经来到，耶和华的荣耀已经在你上面升起。

他为见证而来，是要为这光做见证，好让人都藉着他相信。

但我们既然属于白昼，就让我们谨慎，以信与爱做为护胸甲穿上，以救恩的盼望做为头盔戴上。

因此，耶稣不再公开地在犹太人当中行事，而是离开那里，到旷野附近的地方，进了一个叫以法莲的城，在那里与门徒们住下了。

于是他们又试图抓耶稣，他却从他们的手中脱离出来。耶稣又前往约旦河对岸，到约翰当初施洗的地方，住在那里。

那说自己在光里却恨自己弟兄的，至今还在黑暗里；那爱自己弟兄的，就住在光里，而且在他里面没有什么绊脚的事；但那恨自己弟兄的，就是在黑暗里，并且在黑暗里行走，也不知道自己往哪里去，因为黑暗使他的眼睛瞎了。

然后，耶稣离开他们，出城到伯大尼去，在那里过夜。
