Therefore Mary took a pound of ointment of pure nard, very precious, and anointed Jesus’s feet and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.

( Now it was Mary who anointed the Lord with perfumed oil and wiped his feet dry with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)

Now while Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, reclining at the table, a woman came with an alabaster jar of costly aromatic oil from pure nard. After breaking open the jar, she poured it on his head.But some who were present indignantly said to one another,“ Why this waste of expensive ointment?It could have been sold for more than three hundred silver coins and the money given to the poor!” So they spoke angrily to her.But Jesus said,“ Leave her alone. Why are you bothering her? She has done a good service for me.For you will always have the poor with you, and you can do good for them whenever you want. But you will not always have me!She did what she could. She anointed my body beforehand for burial.I tell you the truth, wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”

Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him as a guest.She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to what he said.

Then when a woman of that town, who was a sinner, learned that Jesus was dining at the Pharisee’s house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfumed oil.As she stood behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. She wiped them with her hair, kissed them, and anointed them with the perfumed oil.

Now when Mary came to the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said to him,“ Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”

You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with perfumed oil.

Now while Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper,a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of expensive perfumed oil, and she poured it on his head as he was at the table.When the disciples saw this, they became indignant and said,“ Why this waste?It could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor!”When Jesus learned of this, he said to them,“ Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a good service for me.For you will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me!When she poured this oil on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial.I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”

And when she had said this, Martha went and called her sister Mary, saying privately,“ The Teacher is here and is asking for you.”

Your shoots are a royal garden full of pomegranates with choice fruits: henna with nard,nard and saffron; calamus and cinnamon with every kind of spice, myrrh and aloes with all the finest spices.
