Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word.

John was like a burning and shining lamp, and you were excited for a while about his message.But I have a greater witness than John— my teachings and my miracles. You have never heard his voice or seen him face to face,and you do not have his message in your hearts, because you do not believe me— the one he sent to you.“ You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me!

from the time he was baptized by John until the day he was taken from us. Whoever is chosen will join us as a witness of Jesus’ resurrection.”

We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him.”

Then John testified,“ I saw the Holy Spirit descending like a dove from heaven and resting upon him.

Your awe inspiring deeds will be on every tongue; I will proclaim your greatness.Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy about your righteousness.

The Pharisees replied,“ You are making those claims about yourself! Such testimony is not valid.”Jesus told them,“ These claims are valid even though I make them about myself. For I know where I came from and where I am going, but you don’t know this about me.

“ But I will send you the Advocate— the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me.And you must also testify about me because you have been with me from the beginning of my ministry.

When all the people heard of Jesus’ arrival, they flocked to see him and also to see Lazarus, the man Jesus had raised from the dead.

You always hear me, but I said it out loud for the sake of all these people standing here, so that they will believe you sent me.”

who faithfully reported everything he saw. This is his report of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Since we believe human testimony, surely we can believe the greater testimony that comes from God. And God has testified about his Son.All who believe in the Son of God know in their hearts that this testimony is true. Those who don’t believe this are actually calling God a liar because they don’t believe what God has testified about his Son.And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life.

Many of the people who were with Mary believed in Jesus when they saw this happen.But some went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done.

I saw this happen to Jesus, so I testify that he is the Chosen One of God.”

When the people who were at the house consoling Mary saw her leave so hastily, they assumed she was going to Lazarus’s grave to weep. So they followed her there.

This was John’s testimony when the Jewish leaders sent priests and Temple assistants from Jerusalem to ask John,“ Who are you?”
