為這些事作見證，並且記載這些事的就是這門徒；我們也知道他的見證是真的。

約翰是點着的明燈，你們情願暫時喜歡他的光。但我有比約翰更大的見證；因為父交給我要我成就的事，就是我所做的事，這便見證我是父所差來的。差我來的父也為我作過見證。你們從來沒有聽見他的聲音，也沒有看見他的形像。你們並沒有他的道存在心裏；因為他所差來的，你們不信。你們查考聖經，因你們以為內中有永生；給我作見證的就是這經。

就是從約翰施洗起，直到主離開我們被接上升的日子為止，必須從那常與我們作伴的人中立一位與我們同作耶穌復活的見證。」

我們為這事作見證；神賜給順從之人的聖靈也為這事作見證。」

約翰又作見證說：「我曾看見聖靈，彷彿鴿子從天降下，住在他的身上。

人要傳說你可畏之事的能力；我也要傳揚你的大德。他們記念你的大恩就要傳出來，並要歌唱你的公義。

看見這事的那人就作見證－他的見證也是真的，並且他知道自己所說的是真的－叫你們也可以信。

法利賽人對他說：「你是為自己作見證，你的見證不真。」耶穌說：「我雖然為自己作見證，我的見證還是真的；因我知道我從哪裏來，往哪裏去；你們卻不知道我從哪裏來，往哪裏去。

但我要從父那裏差保惠師來，就是從父出來真理的聖靈；他來了，就要為我作見證。你們也要作見證，因為你們從起頭就與我同在。」

有許多猶太人知道耶穌在那裏，就來了，不但是為耶穌的緣故，也是要看他從死裏所復活的拉撒路。

我也知道你常聽我，但我說這話是為周圍站着的眾人，叫他們信是你差了我來。」

約翰便將神的道和耶穌基督的見證，凡自己所看見的都證明出來。

我們既領受人的見證，神的見證更該領受了，因神的見證是為他兒子作的。信神兒子的，就有這見證在他心裏；不信神的，就是將神當作說謊的，因不信神為他兒子作的見證。這見證就是神賜給我們永生；這永生也是在他兒子裏面。人有了神的兒子就有生命，沒有神的兒子就沒有生命。

那些來看馬利亞的猶太人見了耶穌所做的事，就多有信他的；但其中也有去見法利賽人的，將耶穌所做的事告訴他們。

我看見了，就證明這是神的兒子。」

那些同馬利亞在家裏安慰她的猶太人，見她急忙起來出去，就跟着她，以為她要往墳墓那裏去哭。

約翰所作的見證記在下面：猶太人從耶路撒冷差祭司和利未人到約翰那裏，問他說：「你是誰？」
