Then one of them, named Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, spoke up,“ You know nothing at all!

One of the Jewish leaders spoke up. His name was Caiaphas. He was high priest at that time. He said,“ You don’t know anything at all!

and brought him first to Annas, who was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the high priest that year.Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jewish leaders that it would be good if one man died for the people. (niv)

He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation, (niv)

Do you see a person wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for them. (niv)

during the high- priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness. (niv)

Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become“ fools” so that you may become wise.For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written:“ He catches the wise in their craftiness”; (niv)

Annas the high priest was there, and so were Caiaphas, John, Alexander and others of the high priest’s family. (niv)

We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. (niv)

“ Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him?No! But this mob that knows nothing of the law— there is a curse on them.” (niv)

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks,who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent. (niv)

Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? (niv)
