那時，祭司長和民間的長老聚集在大祭司該亞法的官邸，

你見過自以為有智慧的人嗎？愚昧人比他更有指望。

亞那和該亞法作大祭司的時候，神的話臨到撒迦利亞的兒子，在曠野的約翰。

誰也不要自欺。如果你們當中有人以為自己在這世代裡是有智慧的，他就應該變為愚笨，好讓他有智慧。因為這世界的智慧，在神看來是愚笨的，如經上所記：“他使有智慧的人中了自己的詭計。”

還有大祭司亞那和該亞法、約翰、亞歷山大，以及大祭司的家人，所有的人都在那裡。

然而在信心成熟的人中間，我們也講智慧，但不是這世代的智慧，也不是這世代將要滅亡的執政者的智慧。

官長或法利賽人中間有誰是信他的呢？至於這群不明白律法的人，他們是可咒詛的。”

那些稱惡為善，稱善為惡，以暗為光，以光為暗，以苦為甜，以甜為苦的人，有禍了！那些自以為有智慧，自視為聰明的人，有禍了！那些勇於喝酒，又精於調和濃酒的人，有禍了！他們因受了賄賂，就稱惡人為義；卻把義人的權益奪去。

智慧人在哪裡？經學家在哪裡？今世的辯士在哪裡？神不是使屬世的智慧變成了愚笨嗎？
