So Jesus, again being deeply moved within,* came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone was lying against it.

Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance.

Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene* came early to the tomb, while it was still dark, and* saw the stone already removed from the tomb.

‘ What right do you have here, And whom do you have here, That you have cut out a tomb for yourself here, You who cut out a tomb on the height, You who carve a resting place for yourself in the rock?

Joseph bought a linen cloth, took Him down, wrapped Him in the linen cloth, and laid Him in a tomb which had been cut out in the rock; and he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb.

Sighing deeply in His spirit, He* said,“ Why does this generation demand a sign? Truly I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation!”

And they went and made the tomb secure with the guard, sealing the stone.

And the Lord said to him,“ Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and make a mark on the foreheads of the people who groan and sigh over all the abominations which are being committed in its midst.”

Then he commanded them and said to them,“ I am about to be gathered to my people; bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is opposite Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought along with the field from Ephron the Hittite as a burial site.There they buried Abraham and his wife Sarah, there they buried Isaac and his wife Rebekah, and there I buried Leah—

After this, Abraham buried his wife Sarah in the cave of the field of Machpelah facing Mamre( that is, Hebron), in the land of Canaan.

As for you, son of man, groan with a breaking heart and bitter grief; you shall groan in their sight.
