耶穌又心裏悲歎，來到墳墓前；那墳墓是個洞，有一塊石頭擋着。

「我現在心裏憂愁，我說甚麼才好呢？父啊，救我脫離這時候；但我原是為這時候來的。

與喜樂的人要同樂；與哀哭的人要同哭。

約瑟愛弟之情發動，就急忙尋找可哭之地，進入自己的屋裏，哭了一場。他洗了臉出來，勉強隱忍，吩咐人擺飯。

耶穌怒目周圍看他們，憂愁他們的心剛硬，就對那人說：「伸出手來！」他把手一伸，手就復了原。

因我們的大祭司並非不能體恤我們的軟弱。他也曾凡事受過試探，與我們一樣，只是他沒有犯罪。

基督在肉體的時候，既大聲哀哭，流淚禱告，懇求那能救他免死的主，就因他的虔誠蒙了應允。他雖然為兒子，還是因所受的苦難學了順從。

約瑟在左右站着的人面前情不自禁，吩咐一聲說：「人都要離開我出去！」約瑟和弟兄們相認的時候並沒有一人站在他面前。他就放聲大哭；埃及人和法老家中的人都聽見了。約瑟對他弟兄們說：「我是約瑟。我的父親還在嗎？」他弟兄不能回答，因為在他面前都驚惶。約瑟又對他弟兄們說：「請你們近前來。」他們就近前來。他說：「我是你們的兄弟約瑟，就是你們所賣到埃及的。現在，不要因為把我賣到這裏自憂自恨。這是神差我在你們以先來，為要保全生命。

耶穌說：「噯！不信的世代啊，我在你們這裏要到幾時呢？我忍耐你們要到幾時呢？把他帶到我這裏來吧。」

於是帶着彼得、雅各、約翰同去，就驚恐起來，極其難過，對他們說：「我心裏甚是憂傷，幾乎要死；你們在這裏等候，警醒。」他就稍往前走，俯伏在地，禱告說：「倘若可行，便叫那時候過去。」

耶穌說了這話，心裏憂愁，就明說：「我實實在在地告訴你們，你們中間有一個人要賣我了。」
