既又曰：『吾輩之友賴柴魯睡矣、吾將醒之。』

After he had said this, he went on to tell them,“ Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up.”

After he said this, Jesus went on speaking to them.“ Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep,” he said.“ But I am going there to wake him up.”

After saying these things, he said to them,“ Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I go to awaken him.”

Then he said,“ Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but now I will go and wake him up.”

This He said, and after this He* said to them,“ Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going so that I may awaken him from sleep.”

These things He said, and after that He said to them,“ Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up.”

These things spake he: and after this he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus is fallen asleep; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.

He said this, and then He told them,“ Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I’m on My way to wake him up.”

After he said this, he added,“ Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep. But I am going there to awaken him.”

He said these things, and after that, he said to them,“ Our friend, Lazarus, has fallen asleep, but I am going so that I may awake him out of sleep.”

Many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to eternal life, and some to disgrace and eternal contempt.

He went in and said to them,“ Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but asleep.”

He knelt down and cried out with a loud voice,“ Lord, do not hold this sin against them!” And after saying this, he fell asleep.

“ Leave,” he said,“ because the girl is not dead but asleep.” And they laughed at him.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, in the same way, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.For we say this to you by a word from the Lord: We who are still alive at the Lord’s coming will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.

Jesus, however, was speaking about his death, but they thought he was speaking about natural sleep.

for what makes everything visible is light. Therefore it is said: Get up, sleeper, and rise up from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.

who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.

Listen, I am telling you a mystery: We will not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed,

The tombs were also opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised.

So the sisters sent a message to him:“ Lord, the one you love is sick.”

The LORD would speak with Moses face to face, just as a man speaks with his friend, then Moses would return to the camp. His assistant, the young man Joshua son of Nun, would not leave the inside of the tent.

Are you not our God who drove out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and who gave it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend?

The LORD said to Moses,“ You are about to rest with your ancestors, and these people will soon prostitute themselves with the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will abandon me and break the covenant I have made with them.

Come to your senses and stop sinning; for some people are ignorant about God. I say this to your shame.

He who has the bride is the groom. But the groom’s friend, who stands by and listens for him, rejoices greatly at the groom’s voice. So this joy of mine is complete.

and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, and he was called God’s friend.

No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life for his friends.You are my friends if you do what I command you.I do not call you servants anymore, because a servant doesn’t know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything I have heard from my Father.

“ Truly I tell you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.For just as the Father has life in himself, so also he has granted to the Son to have life in himself.And he has granted him the right to pass judgment, because he is the Son of Man.Do not be amazed at this, because a time is coming when all who are in the graves will hear his voiceand come out— those who have done good things, to the resurrection of life, but those who have done wicked things, to the resurrection of condemnation.

After he said this, he shouted with a loud voice,“ Lazarus, come out!”The dead man came out bound hand and foot with linen strips and with his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them,“ Unwrap him and let him go.”

But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, descendant of Abraham, my friend—

Those, then, who have fallen asleep in Christ have also perished.
