also says in another place, You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.During his earthly life, he offered prayers and appeals with loud cries and tears to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence.Although he was the Son, he learned obedience from what he suffered.After he was perfected, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him,

This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life so that I may take it up again.

But we do see Jesus— made lower than the angels for a short time so that by God’s grace he might taste death for everyone— crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death.

Yet the LORD was pleased to crush him severely. When you make him a guilt offering, he will see his seed, he will prolong his days, and by his hand, the LORD’s pleasure will be accomplished.After his anguish, he will see light and be satisfied. By his knowledge, my righteous servant will justify many, and he will carry their iniquities.Therefore I will give him the many as a portion, and he will receive the mighty as spoil, because he willingly submitted to death, and was counted among the rebels; yet he bore the sin of many and interceded for the rebels.

On the contrary, so that the world may know that I love the Father, I do as the Father commanded me.“ Get up; let’s leave this place.

Jesus answered,“ Destroy this temple, and I will raise it up in three days.”Therefore the Jews said,“ This temple took forty-six years to build, and will you raise it up in three days?”But he was speaking about the temple of his body.

You do not delight in sacrifice and offering; you open my ears to listen. You do not ask for a whole burnt offering or a sin offering.Then I said,“ See, I have come; in the scroll it is written about me.I delight to do your will, my God, and your instruction is deep within me.”

For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.

Or do you think that I cannot call on my Father, and he will provide me here and now with more than twelve legions of angels?How, then, would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen this way?”At that time Jesus said to the crowds,“ Have you come out with swords and clubs, as if I were a criminal, to capture me? Every day I used to sit, teaching in the temple, and you didn’t arrest me.But all this has happened so that the writings of the prophets would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples deserted him and ran away.

“ Jesus of Nazareth,” they answered.“ I am he,” Jesus told them. Judas, who betrayed him, was also standing with them.When Jesus told them,“ I am he,” they stepped back and fell to the ground.

He gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people for his own possession, eager to do good works.

If you keep my commands you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.

who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be exploited.Instead he emptied himself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. And when he had come as a man,he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death— even to death on a cross.

You killed the source of life, whom God raised from the dead; we are witnesses of this.

Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through his death he might destroy the one holding the power of death— that is, the devil—and free those who were held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death.

You did not delight in whole burnt offerings and sin offerings.Then I said,“ See— it is written about me in the scroll— I have come to do your will, God.”After he says above, You did not desire or delight in sacrifices and offerings, whole burnt offerings and sin offerings( which are offered according to the law),he then says, See, I have come to do your will. He takes away the first to establish the second.By this will, we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all time.

God raised him up, ending the pains of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by death.

“ I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

“ I can do nothing on my own. I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, because I do not seek my own will, but the will of him who sent me.

“ God has raised this Jesus; we are all witnesses of this.

“ You would have no authority over me at all,” Jesus answered him,“ if it hadn’t been given you from above. This is why the one who handed me over to you has the greater sin.”

just as the Father knows me, and I know the Father. I lay down my life for the sheep.
