The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.

他們因貪婪，要用捏造的言語在你們身上取得利益。他們的懲罰，自古以來並不遲延；他們的滅亡也必迅速來到。

因為，看哪，我要在這地立一個牧人；他不看顧將亡的，不尋找分散的，不醫治受傷的，也不牧養強壯的；卻要吞吃肥羊的肉，撕裂牠們的蹄。禍哉！無用的牧人丟棄羊羣，刀必臨到他的膀臂和右眼上；他的膀臂必全然枯乾，他的右眼也必昏暗失明。」

以色列的守望者都瞎了眼，沒有知識；都是啞狗，不會吠叫，只知做夢，躺臥，貪睡，這些狗貪食，不知飽足。這些牧人不知明辨，他們都偏行己路，人人追求自己的利益。他們說：「來吧！我去拿酒，讓我們暢飲烈酒吧！明天必和今天一樣，甚至更好！」

我知道，在我離開以後必有兇暴的豺狼進入你們中間，不顧惜羊羣。

同樣，執事也必須莊重，不一口兩舌，不好酒，不貪不義之財；

不酗酒，不打人；要溫和，不好鬥，不貪財。

因為底馬貪愛現今的世界，已經離棄我，往帖撒羅尼迦去了；革勒士往加拉太去；提多往撻馬太去；

監督既然是神的管家，必須無可指責、不自負、不暴躁、不酗酒、不好鬥、不貪財；

看門的給他開門，羊也聽他的聲音。他按着名叫自己的羊，把羊領出來。

「你們要防備假先知。他們到你們這裏來，外面披着羊皮，裏面卻是殘暴的狼。

務要牧養在你們當中神的羣羊，按着神的旨意照顧他們，不是出於勉強，而是出於甘心；也不是因為貪財，而是出於樂意。

「看哪！我差你們出去，如同羊進入狼羣，所以你們要機警如蛇，純真如鴿。

「人子啊，你要向以色列的牧人說預言，對他們說，主耶和華如此說：禍哉！以色列的牧人只知牧養自己。牧人豈不當牧養羣羊嗎？你們吃肥油、穿羊毛、宰殺肥羊，卻不牧養羣羊。瘦弱的，你們不調養；有病的，你們不醫治；受傷的，你們未包紮；被逐的，你們不去領回；失喪的，你們不尋找；卻用暴力嚴嚴地轄制牠們。牠們因無牧人就分散；既分散，就成為一切野獸的食物。我的羊流落眾山之間和各高岡上，分散在全地，無人去尋，無人去找。
