他們因有貪心，要用捏造的言語在你們身上取利。他們的刑罰，自古以來並不遲延；他們的滅亡也必速速來到。

因我要在這地興起一個牧人。他不看顧喪亡的，不尋找分散的，不醫治受傷的，也不牧養強壯的；卻要吃肥羊的肉，撕裂牠的蹄子。無用的牧人丟棄羊羣有禍了！刀必臨到他的膀臂和右眼上。他的膀臂必全然枯乾；他的右眼也必昏暗失明。」

他看守的人是瞎眼的，都沒有知識，都是啞巴狗，不能叫喚；但知做夢，躺臥，貪睡，這些狗貪食，不知飽足。這些牧人不能明白－各人偏行己路，各從各方求自己的利益。他們說：來吧！我去拿酒，我們飽飲濃酒；明日必和今日一樣，就是宴樂無量極大之日。

我知道，我去之後必有兇暴的豺狼進入你們中間，不愛惜羊羣。

作執事的，也是如此：必須端莊，不一口兩舌，不好喝酒，不貪不義之財；

不因酒滋事，不打人，只要溫和，不爭競，不貪財；

因為底馬貪愛現今的世界，就離棄我往帖撒羅尼迦去了；革勒士往加拉太去；提多往撻馬太去；

監督既是神的管家，必須無可指責，不任性，不暴躁，不因酒滋事，不打人，不貪無義之財；

看門的就給他開門；羊也聽他的聲音。他按着名叫自己的羊，把羊領出來。

「你們要防備假先知。他們到你們這裏來，外面披着羊皮，裏面卻是殘暴的狼。

務要牧養在你們中間神的羣羊，按着神旨意照管他們；不是出於勉強，乃是出於甘心；也不是因為貪財，乃是出於樂意；

「我差你們去，如同羊進入狼羣；所以你們要靈巧像蛇，馴良像鴿子。

「人子啊，你要向以色列的牧人發預言，攻擊他們，說，主耶和華如此說：禍哉！以色列的牧人只知牧養自己。牧人豈不當牧養羣羊嗎？你們吃脂油、穿羊毛、宰肥壯的，卻不牧養羣羊。瘦弱的，你們沒有養壯；有病的，你們沒有醫治；受傷的，你們沒有纏裹；被逐的，你們沒有領回；失喪的，你們沒有尋找；但用強暴嚴嚴地轄制。因無牧人，羊就分散；既分散，便作了一切野獸的食物。我的羊在諸山間、在各高岡上流離，在全地上分散，無人去尋，無人去找。
