他看守的人是瞎眼的，都没有知识，都是哑巴狗，不能叫唤；但知做梦，躺卧，贪睡，这些狗贪食，不知饱足。这些牧人不能明白，各人偏行己路，各从各方求自己的利益。他们说：“来吧！我去拿酒，我们饱饮浓酒；明日必和今日一样，就是宴乐无量极大之日。”

我知道，我去之后必有凶暴的豺狼进入你们中间，不爱惜羊群。

作执事的，也是如此：必须端庄，不一口两舌，不好喝酒，不贪不义之财；

不因酒滋事，不打人，只要温和，不争竞，不贪财；

因为底马贪爱现今的世界，就离弃我往帖撒罗尼迦去了；革勒士往加拉太去；提多往挞马太去；

监督既是神的管家，必须无可指责，不任性，不暴躁，不因酒滋事，不打人，不贪无义之财；

看门的就给他开门；羊也听他的声音。他按着名叫自己的羊，把羊领出来。

“你们要防备假先知。他们到你们这里来，外面披着羊皮，里面却是残暴的狼。

务要牧养在你们中间神的群羊，按着神旨意照管他们；不是出于勉强，乃是出于甘心；也不是因为贪财，乃是出于乐意；

“我差你们去，如同羊进入狼群；所以你们要灵巧像蛇，驯良像鸽子。

“人子啊，你要向以色列的牧人发预言，攻击他们，说，主耶和华如此说：祸哉！以色列的牧人只知牧养自己。牧人岂不当牧养群羊吗？你们吃脂油、穿羊毛、宰肥壮的，却不牧养群羊。瘦弱的，你们没有养壮；有病的，你们没有医治；受伤的，你们没有缠裹；被逐的，你们没有领回；失丧的，你们没有寻找；但用强暴严严地辖制。因无牧人，羊就分散；既分散，便作了一切野兽的食物。我的羊在诸山间、在各高冈上流离，在全地上分散，无人去寻，无人去找。
