他的守望者都是瞎眼的，都沒有知識；他們都是啞巴狗，不能吠；只會作夢、躺臥，貪愛睡覺。這些狗十分貪吃，不知飽足；他們是牧人，但甚麼都不明白；他們都偏行自己的道路，各從各方求自己的利益。他們說：“來吧！我去拿酒，讓我們痛飲烈酒吧！明天必像今天一樣，而且比今天還盛大和豐盈。”

我知道在我離開之後，必有兇暴的豺狼進入你們中間，不顧惜羊群。

照樣，執事也必須莊重，不一口兩舌，不酗酒，不貪不義之財，

不好酒，不打人，只要溫和，與人無爭，不貪財，

“提防假先知！他們披著羊皮到你們當中，裡面卻是殘暴的狼。

務要牧養在你們中間的神的羊群，按著神的旨意看顧他們。不是出於勉強，而是出於甘心；不是因為貪財，而是出於熱誠；

“現在，我差派你們出去，好像羊進到狼群中間；所以你們要像蛇一樣機警，像鴿子一樣純潔。

“人子啊！你要說預言攻擊以色列眾牧者；你要對他們說預言：‘主耶和華這樣說：以色列眾牧者有禍了！他們只顧牧養自己。牧者豈不應當牧養羊群嗎？你們吃脂油、穿羊毛，宰肥壯的羊，卻不牧養羊群。瘦弱的，你們沒有養壯；患病的，你們沒有醫治；受傷的，你們沒有包紮；被趕散的，你們沒有領回；迷失的，你們沒有尋找；你們反而用強暴嚴嚴地管轄牠們。牠們沒有牧人，就分散了，作了田野一切走獸的食物。我的羊在眾山和各高岡上流離；牠們分散在全地上，沒有人去尋，也沒有人去找。
