And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me,‘ The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’

I didn’t know he was the one, but when God sent me to baptize with water, he told me,‘ The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’

And I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me,‘ He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’

And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize in water, he said unto me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and abiding upon him, the same is he that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit.

约翰是用水施洗，但不多几日，你们要受圣灵的洗。”

我是用水给你们施洗，叫你们悔改。但那在我以后来的，能力比我更大，我就是给他提鞋也不配。他要用圣灵与火给你们施洗。

约翰说：“我是用水给你们施洗，但有一位能力比我更大的要来，我就是给他解鞋带也不配。他要用圣灵与火给你们施洗。

他便救了我们；并不是因我们自己所行的义，乃是照他的怜悯，藉着重生的洗和圣灵的更新。圣灵就是神藉着耶稣基督我们救主厚厚浇灌在我们身上的，

我一开讲，圣灵便降在他们身上，正像当初降在我们身上一样。我就想起主的话说：‘约翰是用水施洗，但你们要受圣灵的洗。’

我们不拘是犹太人，是希腊人，是为奴的，是自主的，都从一位圣灵受洗，成了一个身体，饮于一位圣灵。

耶稣说：“我实实在在地告诉你，人若不是从水和圣灵生的，就不能进神的国。

问他们说：“你们信的时候受了圣灵没有？”他们回答说：“没有，也未曾听见有圣灵赐下来。”保罗说：“这样，你们受的是什么洗呢？”他们说：“是约翰的洗。”保罗说：“约翰所行的是悔改的洗，告诉百姓当信那在他以后要来的，就是耶稣。”他们听见这话，就奉主耶稣的名受洗。保罗按手在他们头上，圣灵便降在他们身上，他们就说方言，又说预言。

神所差来的就说神的话，因为神赐圣灵给他是没有限量的。

他传道说：“有一位在我以后来的，能力比我更大，我就是弯腰给他解鞋带也是不配的。我是用水给你们施洗，他却要用圣灵给你们施洗。”

彼得还说这话的时候，圣灵降在一切听道的人身上。那些奉割礼、和彼得同来的信徒，见圣灵的恩赐也浇在外邦人身上，就都希奇；因听见他们说方言，称赞神为大。于是彼得说：“这些人既受了圣灵，与我们一样，谁能禁止用水给他们施洗呢？”

我先前不认识他，如今我来用水施洗，为要叫他显明给以色列人。”

当下，耶稣从加利利来到约旦河，见了约翰，要受他的洗。约翰想要拦住他，说：“我当受你的洗，你反倒上我这里来吗？”耶稣回答说：“你暂且许我，因为我们理当这样尽诸般的义。”于是约翰许了他。

他们就都被圣灵充满，按着圣灵所赐的口才说起别国的话来。
