我以前也不认识他，可是那派我用水施洗的对我说：‘如果你看见圣灵降临在谁身上，又停留在谁身上，谁就是用圣灵施洗的那一位。’

And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me,‘ The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’

因为约翰是用水施洗，但过不了多少日子，你们就要受圣灵的洗。”

“我用水给你们施洗，是为了你们的悔改。但在我之后来的那一位，是比我更强有力的，我就是为他提鞋子也不配。他要用圣灵和火给你们施洗。

约翰就回答大家，说：“我用水给你们施洗，但有一位比我更强有力的要来，我就是为他解鞋带也不配。他要用圣灵和火给你们施洗。

他拯救了我们；这不是本于我们所做的义行，而是照着他的怜悯，藉着重生的洗涤和圣灵的更新。神藉着我们的救主耶稣基督，将圣灵丰丰富富地倾注在我们身上，

我一开始讲话，圣灵就降临在他们身上，就像当初降临在我们身上一样。我就想起了主如此说的话，‘约翰用水施洗，但你们将要受圣灵的洗。’

实际上，我们受洗也都是藉着一位圣灵成为一个身体——无论是犹太人或外邦人，无论是奴隶或自由人——并且我们都是受了一位圣灵的浇灌。

耶稣回答：“我确确实实地告诉你：一个人如果不是由水和圣灵所生的，就不能进入神的国。

问他们：“你们信的时候，是否领受了圣灵？”他们告诉他：“其实我们也没有听说过是否有圣灵。”保罗又问：“那么，你们受的是什么洗呢？”他们说：“是约翰的洗礼。”保罗说：“约翰所施的是悔改的洗礼，他告诉民众当相信在他以后来的那一位，就是相信耶稣。”他们听了，就受洗归入了主耶稣的名。接着，保罗按手在他们身上，圣灵就临到了他们。他们就说起殊言，又说预言。

神所差派的那一位，就说神的话语，因为神不靠着量度赐下圣灵。

他宣讲，说：“在我之后，有一位比我更强有力的要来。我就是弯腰为他解鞋带也不配。我用水给你们施洗，但他要用圣灵给你们施洗。”

彼得还在讲这些话的时候，圣灵降临在每个听这话语的人身上。所有陪彼得一起来的割礼派的信徒，看见所赐的圣灵也被倾注在外邦人身上，都十分惊讶，因为他们听见外邦人说着殊言，又尊神为大。于是彼得说：“这些人就像我们一样也领受了圣灵，到底谁能阻止用水给他们施洗呢？”

我以前也不认识他，但为了让他向以色列显明，所以我来用水施洗。”

那时，耶稣从加利利来到约旦河，到了约翰那里，要受他的洗礼。约翰想要阻止他，说：“我需要受你的洗礼，你反而到我这里来吗？”耶稣回答他，说：“现在你就答应吧，因为我们如此成全一切的义，是合宜的。”于是约翰答应了他。

于是他们都被圣灵充满，就照着圣灵赐给他们的话，开始说出别种语言。
