And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.

他們又詰問他說：『那麼、是甚麼呢？你是以利亞麼？』他說：『我不是。』『你是那位神言人麼？』他回答說：『不是。』

他們又問：「那麼你是誰呢？是以利亞嗎？」他說：「我不是。」「是那位先知嗎？」他回答：「不是。」

曰、然則爾為以利亞乎、曰非也、爾為彼先知乎、曰否、

曰、爾為誰、以利亞乎、曰、否、曰、抑當來之先知乎、曰、否、

又問曰、爾為誰、以利亞乎、曰、否、曰、抑為彼先知乎、曰、否、

曰：『然則爾為伊理藹乎？』曰：『非也。』曰：『子殆先知乎？』曰：『否。』

They asked him,“ Then who are you? Are you Elijah?” He said,“ I am not.”“ Are you the Prophet?” He answered,“ No.”

They asked him,“ Then who are you? Are you Elijah?” He said,“ I am not.”“ Are you the Prophet we’ve been expecting?” they asked.“ No,” he answered.

And they asked him,“ What then? Are you Elijah?” He said,“ I am not.”“ Are you the Prophet?” And he answered,“ No.”

“ Well then, who are you?” they asked.“ Are you Elijah?”“ No,” he replied.“ Are you the Prophet we are expecting?”“ No.”

“ What then?” they asked him.“ Are you Elijah?”“ I am not,” he said.“ Are you the Prophet?”“ No,” he answered.

And so they asked him,“ What then? Are you Elijah?” And he* said,“ I am not.”“ Are you the Prophet?” And he answered,“ No.”

And they asked him,“ What then? Are you Elijah?” He said,“ I am not.”“ Are you the Prophet?” And he answered,“ No.”

And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he saith, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.

“ What then?” they asked him.“ Are you Elijah?”“ I am not,” he said.“ Are you the Prophet?”“ No,” he answered.

So they asked him,“ Then who are you? Are you Elijah?” He said,“ I am not!”“ Are you the Prophet?” He answered,“ No!”

They asked him,“ What then? Are you Elijah?” He said,“ I am not.”“ Are you the prophet?” He answered,“ No.”

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

And if ye will receive[ it], this is Elias, which was for to come.

The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.And the LORD said unto me, They have well[ spoken that] which they have spoken.I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

And they said, Some[ say that thou art] John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?

And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.

Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.

And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.For this is[ he], of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
