He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.His winnowing fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”So with many other exhortations he preached good news to the people.

So the Jews gathered around him and said to him,“ How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.”

And as John was finishing his course, he said,‘ What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. No, but behold, after me one is coming, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.’

You sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth.Not that the testimony that I receive is from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved.He was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.But the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me.

And Paul said,“ John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus.”

And when he entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching, and said,“ By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?”Jesus answered them,“ I also will ask you one question, and if you tell me the answer, then I also will tell you by what authority I do these things.The baptism of John, from where did it come? From heaven or from man?” And they discussed it among themselves, saying,“ If we say,‘ From heaven,’ he will say to us,‘ Why then did you not believe him?’But if we say,‘ From man,’ we are afraid of the crowd, for they all hold that John was a prophet.”So they answered Jesus,“ We do not know.” And he said to them,“ Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.“ What do you think? A man had two sons. And he went to the first and said,‘ Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’And he answered,‘ I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind and went.And he went to the other son and said the same. And he answered,‘ I go, sir,’ but did not go.Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said,“ The first.” Jesus said to them,“ Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes go into the kingdom of God before you.For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. And even when you saw it, you did not afterward change your minds and believe him.

So the Jews said to him,“ What sign do you show us for doing these things?”

So the Jews said to the man who had been healed,“ It is the Sabbath, and it is not lawful for you to take up your bed.”

And you shall come to the Levitical priests and to the judge who is in office in those days, and you shall consult them, and they shall declare to you the decision.Then you shall do according to what they declare to you from that place that the Lord will choose. And you shall be careful to do according to all that they direct you.According to the instructions that they give you, and according to the decision which they pronounce to you, you shall do. You shall not turn aside from the verdict that they declare to you, either to the right hand or to the left.

The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying,“ How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”

So the Jews grumbled about him, because he said,“ I am the bread that came down from heaven.”

“ Take care, in a case of leprous disease, to be very careful to do according to all that the Levitical priests shall direct you. As I commanded them, so you shall be careful to do.
