The Jews therefore came round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou hold us in suspense? If thou art the Christ, tell us plainly.

And as John was fulfilling his course, he said, What suppose ye that I am? I am not he. But behold, there cometh one after me the shoes of whose feet I am not worthy to unloose.

Ye have sent unto John, and he hath borne witness unto the truth.But the witness which I receive is not from man: howbeit I say these things, that ye may be saved.He was the lamp that burneth and shineth; and ye were willing to rejoice for a season in his light.But the witness which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father hath given me to accomplish, the very works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

And Paul said, John baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people that they should believe on him that should come after him, that is, on Jesus.

And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one question, which if ye tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things.The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven or from men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why then did ye not believe him?But if we shall say, From men; we fear the multitude; for all hold John as a prophet.And they answered Jesus, and said, We know not. He also said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.But what think ye? A man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to- day in the vineyard.And he answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented himself, and went.And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.Which of the two did the will of his father? They say, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye saw it, did not even repent yourselves afterward, that ye might believe him.

The Jews therefore answered and said unto him, What sign showest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

So the Jews said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath, and it is not lawful for thee to take up thy bed.

and thou shalt come unto the priests the Levites, and unto the judge that shall be in those days: and thou shalt inquire; and they shall show thee the sentence of judgment.And thou shalt do according to the tenor of the sentence which they shall show thee from that place which Jehovah shall choose; and thou shalt observe to do according to all that they shall teach thee:according to the tenor of the law which they shall teach thee, and according to the judgment which they shall tell thee, thou shalt do; thou shalt not turn aside from the sentence which they shall show thee, to the right hand, nor to the left.

The Jews therefore strove one with another, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

The Jews therefore murmured concerning him, because he said, I am the bread which came down out of heaven.

Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that thou observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them, so ye shall observe to do.
